Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

We'll bounce back, but i worry that we lack the offensive coaches to win it all again until there's a shakeup.
Agreed which is why I want Beck gone now. If Beck can't get it done with this offense then he's never going to get it done. All he literally had to do was not fuck up what Herman built and he took a goddamn sledgehammer to it. Can't believe how fucking pissed I still am.

Oh, I've wanted him gone for weeks now. But, the reality of the situation is that it is VERY rare for a coach to get canned after one year. Everett Whithers got a second year, fergodsakes. I expect him back next year, but I'd think he'd be coaching for his job. And i don't expect much. It is what it is. I hope I'm wrong.

Never said either school was. Just said that he wasn't (obviously) a pro style coach and that he's run this kind of offense before.

Kansas ran the spread when he was the passing game coordinator. Reesing threw for over 61% completion and 33 TDs in 2007 when Beck was the play caller.

I went looking for game film of that 2007 Kansas team, but, like a sandwich in Mangino's hands, they haven't lasted long....

Lots of vertical passing from 4 and 5 receiver sets with receivers split very wide. Running was mostly outside zone. But I think Warriner was calling the plays back then.

Hell, there's your problem right there. Stop picking coaches from the MANGINO coaching tree and you'll be okay.

Correction - the Mangino coaching buffet. Cause climbing a tree would require some effort from him.

Whithers at least had the excuse of coaching depleted defenses each year he was here. Plus the defense wasn't exactly stellar the year he got here. I want him gone because it's hard envisioning that things will be better next with how much we're replacing on offense. Like, what's the point really?

Bah don't mind me, I'm just venting.

Should have looked for the next Herman rather than a guy Warinner was comfortable with. Hopefully Meyer pulls the trigger if he feels it won't turn around next year. I'd hate to waste another year for JT with a coach that can't develop him.
I'm going to get destroyed for this I'm sure but here it goes...

We won't make a change because Urban just cares too much about the people he works with. In a business like college football you can't afford to blindly not hold people accountable. If it doesn't work then man up and can him.

Here's where I'll get had though...

I'm confident. Without any doubt that I could have called a better game. I haven't coached much but I've played college Ball and my reasons for feeling this way is I'm not neglectful to keep calling plays that are getting destroyed. I'm also bright enough to realize who I should ride and who I shouldnt. For example I know I should not roll the pocket to the short side of the field or I'm going to run out of real-estate FAST (which led to 89 sacking JT).

I think some of the problems with the QB position such as Jones' regression was related to the OC. It would have been very interesting to see what this team would have been with Herman here another year- I think they could have been one of the best 2 or 3 teams of the last 25 years.

That's how bad I think the Beck hiring was... I think it had a huge negative impact on the season. You really can see the regression when you consider that OSU put up 48 on a better MSU defense last year. Heck, Rutgers managed to pass for more than twice as many yards as OSU did against MSU this year.
