Tiger Woods (Offical Thread)

I agree with most of this, but I could see him going through the rough stuff then spending all of his time on the driving range in a Gollum-like state plotting his on-course revenge on everybody. His core (only?) value is on-course domination and I think he might just refocus on that and dominate even more in the end.

That's the way I see it. The easiest way for him to get past this is to go out and have the best year of his career in 2010. A year from now he'll be single no one will really care about all of this if he wins 10+ tourneys with 3-4 majors. If he falls apart and doesn't win at all next year it will be a problem.
This isn't anything compared to what Kobe went through and I don't hear anything about him cheating on his wife at this point.

2. We aren't quite there yet...but give this scandal another 7 to 10 days and I'm expecting so-called leaders of the African American community to come out in support of Woods and call anyone who reports on the story as "racist"

I don't think so. Not a lot of love for him there IMO.

Well if Jessie and Al don't step up I am sure that the leadership of the Cablanasian community will come to his defense any time now.

Perhaps - but they could leverage current support for future appearances by Tiger. We'll cover for you now but then....

Knowing full well that nobody in the media will call them out as full of shit.

My one question about that would be...would the color of the women he was with have a say in that particular reaction (or lack thereof). It isn't hard to see that every woman thus far in Tiger's Bangline is of a certain pigmentation...

Right on cue! This WaPo editor takes a small break from calling Sarah Palin a racist to call Tiger an Uncle Tom!

Sometimes they are more predictable than old faithful...

Wow.

Tiger, man you are fucked (like you hadn't picked up on that by now). Now you have a group coming after you for not banging chicks of color during your (apparently) many transgressions.

He's like the man without a country. The only group in America that actually would be willing to give the dude a break (guys who either do or wish they could cheat on their wives) can't say shit for fear of being politically incorrect or getting busted themselves.

I'm starting to think by the time this is over people will start using his name as a verb ala getting Munsoned or McNieled.

So the count is up to seven?

Do you think he just played nine holes, of did he do the back nine as well?

Actually, once you get past three or four does it really make a difference how many in terms of describing who you are? (Kinda like counting bodies found in a serial killer's basement.) In any case he will never break Chamberlain's record. But the record for a married guy with two young kids appears to be all his.

I do not see the phrase - the word or the slant that shows Robinson coming to an "Uncle Tom" conclusion. At worst what you have is Robinson saying Tiger is acting just as say Donald Trump does, going for (mostly) leggy blondes. An archetypal beauty.

For all I know by reading that column Robinson may be calling for Tiger to go get him some red-headed floozie, or at least a little more variety in life.

...right...and Michael Jackson was a child molesting freak until he died and it gave the Sharpton's of the world a chance to exploit his death and claim they loved him all along...

Al and Jesse could both jump to Cheetah's defense in a heart beat if they think enough cameras will be there and enough money could be made.

I heard some news on the radio that some (or the majority) of the females that have come out were before Tiger's marriage to Elin. He definitely cheated on her with at least 1 girl (given the voicemail) but people thinking that he was having 7 women during his marriage are being mislead.

Now if 7 women during his marriage turns into, say, 7 women over the course of a 7 year span (since he became an ultra star), then that changes things dramatically.

Thoughts?

But the world is full of beautiful women of all colors, shapes and sizes -- some with short hair or almond eyes, some with broad noses, some with yellow or brown skin. Woods appears to have bought into an "official" standard of beauty that is so conventional as to be almost oppressive.

Longtime readers of Robinson (as I am) know exactly what he's referring to with the above paragraph.
