I just don't see our basketball team as a distraction. It implies that they're somehow less important than the football team. I appreciate that we're a football school, and I'll admit that I'm a football first guy, but I just have no personal interest in letting my angst about JT, TP, et al. interfere with the amazing/historic run that the basketball team is enjoying.
I tried to be clear that my suggestion to focus on basketball for the next few weeks was just that, a suggestion based upon my own perspective, and in no way a rule or directive.
I don't think anyone with an established history here has been squelched when it comes to talking about the football stuff, and I certainly haven't suggested that they should be.
Nothing I say is ever worthy of devout worship. Nor should you get derepped for suggesting that you think the football issue is so big that it can't wait until basketball is over. I totally get that, and part of me agrees. Make no mistake, it takes effort for me to compartmentalize one so I can completely enjoy the other, but as that's important to me personally, that's where I am. I'd rather wait and see what they say, then react to that. I will disagree about the glasses point -- I'm not telling people to see JT in a positive light, to accept his penalty and move on, or anything else along those lines. Indeed, my own belief is that he's going to take a more severe hit when the NCAA comes down and that he's done long-term damage to an already shaky national perception of how we do things. If the NCAA rules during March Madness, then there's no putting one on pause to enjoy the other. I certainly hope that doesn't happen.
There's no 'wrong' way to process what's happened. It only becomes a question of where and how you say things about it. The aforementioned trolls are the ones who come in new and from post one are only here to enrage people.
This is part of the reason I started a new thread instead of jumping into either of the "i'm all in"/"i'm not all in" threads. Consider this a third sphere that somewhat overlaps each of the other two. It's not meant to be mutually exclusive to either position.
Anyway, I had a blast watching the B1G tourney, and I expect the same during the NCAAs. For those better capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time (enjoying bball while dealing with the football mess), more power to you. :)

But no matter how many times I read the OP in this thread I see nothing worthy of our devout worship.
It screams "distraction." Look at everything else! No. We must look at what is happening with our football program as well.
And largely there are not trolls: there are people asking valid questions regarding Tressel and our team's conduct.
I know I'll get "derepped" for hell for this, but please, this is not taking off the "scarlet colored glasses," this thread is all about wearing them firmly.
