The Wit and Wisdom of Annie Apple

confusing site... Annie would probably be mad leaving Dallas before the start of the NC...
and when I selected a return flight.. it wanted $600...
then when I went to 'book' the flight... pops up with .. can't book it unless you donate to our legal defense fund
as Colonel Jessup stated.. "I don't know what the hell kind of unit you're running here?"
:pirate:
basically you can use that site to find the carrier and book the "Whole flight" then when you land in Dallas you just get off the plane ... same with the return you just go to DFW and check in and board with the other passengers.

its legality is in question because these flights are cheaper than flying direct... also

not nonstop but Delta has it for $600ish

We're talking travel expenses for mom and dad though, which could be anywhere in America, or even from a third world country like Cleveland. And $900 for a hotel for a major event doesn't go very far when you've got twelve days before you even know you're going to book it.
At least a mom/dad couple is getting $2,500 which is way better than nothing...you know, like they get for any other road game. Besides, distance many times doesn't correlate with ticket cost. My roundtrip flight from Honolulu to Orlando for Thanksgiving was only a couple hundred dollars more than the roundtrip tickets from JFK to Orlando--same airline--for my daughter to join me. I flew over four times the distance for almost the same price.

Hopefully this process is refined to give some flexibility to the guardians so that don't wind up having to float $6-10g in travel expenses between CCG, Bowl, and NCG before they see the reimbursement checks. Even with a stipend/outright reimbursement, that's a huge financial burden for some families.
What they should do is set a hotel cap per event locale and average roundtrip travel cost from airport nearest their primary residence in this case to locale. Also limit the stipend to a four-day window two days before and one day after the game. For example, if average cost for a 3-4 star hotel in Dallas is $120 a night per person and the average travel cost from, say, St. Louis to Dallas and back is $700 per person, then a mom/dad couple gets $1,400 for travel and $960 for per diem, or $2,360 total. Which, lo-and-behold, is less than what they're going to get now at $2,500 per couple. This would enable just about any parent/guardian to opportunity to travel for the game.

Ohio St AD Gene Smith said NCAA's Mark Emmert and Mark Lewis made the family travel waiver happen. Called Monday after seeing his comments.

The $1,250 CFP stipend is a pilot program for this year. NCAA membership needs to pass legislation to make it permanent.

Smith: Family travel falls under student athlete welfare. Expects to see more of this "behavior" going forward.

Smith says he was "shocked" when he got the call from NCAA office and that they acted so quickly.

The stipend will go a long way to helping families pay for these trips.
You don't need the best hotels.
And you can eat at "In and Out Burger" or "Carl Jrs" or a few days. Maybe even splurge one day for some brisket or Texas BBQ.

I think he's asking "why?" go and muddy a good/celebratory point by interjecting a racial overtone into the message.

Correct. I ended it with 'whatever' because I don't want to stir the pot too much/not outraged or anything of the sort. Just don't understand why she had to bring race into it like that.

But.. whatever!
