The What I Got for Christmas Thread

I got a GINORMOUS cast-iron skillet from the wife, and from the mother-in-law I got a set of hot pads, embroidered kitchen towels and $150 in Barnes & Noble gift certificates. Those are annual presents from the M-I-L, and they are always very, very welcome.

Bought the wife a Lexus IS-f as a birthday/ "thanks for paying the bills while I attended law school" gift. I have been eyeing a Toyota TRD Rock Warrior edition Tundra for a while. So for Christmas my wife gives me a picture of the truck glued to an envelope with $50 in it and the words "to get you started toward buying your truck".....only $35k more to add to the envelope. Looks like I will need to get another 200k miles out of the Altima. :tongue2:

I got a shit ton of work shirts and work pants for when I start my job in Chicago. My mom bought them a size or two larger than what I wear now, anticipating weight gain :slappy:

I also got some awesome framed newspaper clippings from memorable OSU moments from my dad.

Did you put the big bow on it? Gator would have keyed it if you did.

I got a guitar and rocksmith. I've never played guitar before, and it's harder than I imagined. Either that, or Rocksmith's easiest setting is not for people that have never played before.

I'm looking forward to learning, though.

What kind of guitar? If the guitar doesn't stay in tune well, then it makes the game more difficult than it really is. Just keep playing, it will get easier the more you play.

I would have keyed it because he went to law school.

Got lil Ubet Rocksmith for his b-day two weeks ago. He thinks it is great, and more fun than just practicing riffs off music that his instructor gave him. Now he wants one for bass.

I'm eyeing Rocksmith as a gift to myself. I have a tough time just sitting down with a book and doing those seemingly inane exercises of two notes over and over (I know, they have a point, I just don't do well with those kinds of things anymore), but if I can find a good tab/chord chart for a song I want to learn, I pop the file into gAssistant (amazing little app) and slow it down to a point where I can play and I pick it up pretty well.

Also, was going to buy myself the last two Harry Potter movies, but Walmart seems to refuse to carry Deathly Hallows Part 1 anymore (they have every other one except Part 1), so instead of buying two movies, I bought none. How have they not put Parts 1 and 2 in a box together yet?
