The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

I was under the impression most the prison had been cleared when Rick went crazy en route to finding Lori and killed all the Walkers.

I agree, my only guess is maybe he didn't want to mix it up with Walkers while Carl was there?

I think it was important to show that Meryl could magically fashion his own prosthetic weapon with no formal medical training..........no, I agree with you, that scene was dumb.

Sorry, had to do it. Feel free to fire away with the usual "well if you

I checked the episode again. Rick does state he cleared out the boiler level. So I suppose that is good enough.

Daryl was supposed to clear out the route to the generator. Doesn't really explain why they ignored the room with the walkers in it. What if they got out?

didn't he say something to the effect of "they can't even push the door open, so they are really weak." I guess he assumed they were of the malnourished variety and didn't pose an immediate threat.

I guess that whole thing was to set up his finding his girlfriend/mother/sister/cousin/nurse figure so weak she couldn't push the door open...still, failboat.

Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense why they needed to walk by that door though, they could have just happened across it later on their walk..not like the audience really has a grasp of the prison layout

Which would make them even easier to kill. Their whole goal was to clear things out. I guess Daryl is just a procrastinator.

Of course actual explanations would be preferred.

There were some decent elements to it. I thought the dumb crazy hick in his house was stupid. Really stupid. Like the fucking walkers wouldn't have been beating down his door in a horde long before the group got there? Come on. It's shit like that which is embarrassing to the writers. There's a big difference between suspending disbelief and suspending consistency.

Otherwise I thought the Maggie/Glen stuff was good, though predictable. Next week it looks like we get the Merle/Daryl awkwardness and some sort of dual showdown at both the prison and the town for the midway finale cliffhanger deal. Blondie will realize the governor is trying to paste her friends, but she'll be "conflicted" in some way of course. It's all going to boil down to one big Days of our Lives meets Dawn of the Dead climax, or at least cliffhanger, with likely another main character biting the dust, or at least looking like they might...we'll see where they go with it.

I agree, then he said "I'm going to call the cops." That whole interaction was absurd.

Yeah, very weird.

In other weird actions, a couple episodes back, they dug three graves in the prison courtyard, presumably for Laurie, T-, and Carol. Then I think they showed the three graves, now filled-in, with crosses. I'm just wondering what exactly they buried in those graves?

I think they said somewhere in passing in one of the episodes (Daryl maybe?) that there was nothing in them. Kind of a "tomb of the unknown zombie killer" kind of thing I think. You're right, that would seem weird though...I mean, just put the cross in and have the memorial...why the hell dig the holes?
