The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

Can someone tell me what the [censored] the purpose was of T-Dog surviving season 1? I mean, he has had no character development, he has more or less been in the background of every episode, they kill off half the characters, opening up some serious slots for him this year, and boom...3 episodes in, he's a dead T-Dog. Some of the way they deal with this show makes no [censored]ing sense.

On the other hand I liked the eposide, I wasn't expecting Lori to die so soon, if only because the writers seem to like tormenting the audience with her...interesting to see what they do with Rick and Carl now. Not sure where short-hair went, but I imagine they'll find her next week. I imagine a reunion of Daryl and Merle is coming, just a question of what happens. Not a big fan of the way they are handling the Governor storyline, but it is early yet I guess. Michonne needs a chance to shine in the coming weeks also.

I don't know man....so much going threw my head after this episode. I wanted so much more of T-Dog and did not seeing that coming. Apparently his purpose was to leave you wanting more and to never get it. He lived to survive and had some good 1 liners. But I wanted to know more about his past and it never came. Damnit. However, he did play a bit of a Dale role in vying for the convicts to get in the group and was really coming along.

So much is left to be developed though. Rick tried to treat Lori as just another member of the group, yet he clearly didn't feel that way via his breakdown at the end. Honestly though, I wanted Lori to get eaten....I hated her as much as everyone else. But the way that happened was heartbreaking. Carl having to put his mom down...wow. I wanted to see her go violently but that whole seen really defied my true feelings. Great job by the creators of the show. Glad she is gone but that end was crazy. The flashback to Rick telling Carl "no more kids stuff" about people dying was just the topper, really strong stuff.

Overall, just a great episode though...completely was not ready for that in episode 4.

Also...love The Governor. Great character. The dialogue about "purpose" being a job and a mortgage and how it is equivalent to any purpose in the apocalypse was great. Need way more Governor. Michonne...eh. Don't care, she isn't as great as everyone said she would be.

Great episode. The governor is an intriguing character. I hope they keep him somewhat believable and don't go over the top with theatrics.

Rick and the Governor could be fun to watch as a power struggle.

Michonne is very boring. They haven't done anything with her character yet. There has to be some flash backs coming or something dealing with her. Right now, she just seems like a waste, other then her "gut feeling" that something is off with Governor.

My problem with the governor is that they've already gone way over the top with theatrics. I mean, they could have developed a slower burn on "how good or bad of a guy is he", using some of the subtle (and often clever) dialogue such as that between he and Merle and the pussy science dude. Or maybe even some sexual tension with blondie (they have gone there a bit, I guess). But in just 2 episodes he has already wiped out an entire company of National Guard and has sat in rapture in a room full of pickled heads. My only conclusion from that is that this is going to be a pretty short story element because they are rushing the whole thing, which is a shame. He seems the kind of character that could be a thorn in the side for a season or even 2 (though I am not sure if they are planning a season 4, so there is that) and he could be a legendary character if they kept him around and developed him enough.

To that end, I like that they aren't rushing into the Michonne thing...why do we need to know everything in 2 episodes? It is better if dramatic elements allow some reveals, not just forced narrative in 1 or 2 shows.

so why don't they turn the power back on and just kill the siren? Did I miss that part?

i thought the same thing. he shot one of the sirens. take em down. but they havent had a second to think since the last attack/grouping together. maybe they will.

I don't believe that Carl shot Lori. For a series that loves to show brains being splattered on the wall and Zcaesarian sections, to NOT show her getting her head blown off has to mean something.

I expect Zlori to reappear here in a couple weeks, just long enough to eat her own baby and make Rick shoot her in the eyeball. It'll be fantastic.

T-Bone-Dawg-Bird.....meh. Whatever. Just means that it's time for a new temporary moral compass -- unless they have sad Rick resume that role and Herschel play badass for awhile.

I almost feel bad for how much I enjoyed seeing Rick laying on the ground sobbing. It's bordering on sadistic.

after what happened to Lori, I have a feeling they won't be staying there much longer.

To call my shot with the plot arc. I would say that they'll be getting intermingled with the woodbury folk soon. It'll be too tempting with the baby to move in there but it won't take them long to figure out something stinks. Conflict between Rick and the Governor should take up the rest of the season. The townsfolk will provide more characters both for the plot and to get eaten..since the cast is kind of running thin at this point.
