Nice sort of wet your appetite opening episode...nothing really happened, but a lot happened, if that makes sense. There was some good action and it set some things up...definitely a good opener to keep people interested in tuning in.

Damnit...I like Hershel. Not sure if severing the leg after a bite will help...especially when Rick is playing doctor, not Hershel. Good first episode though, lots of action. No real character development aside from Lori wondering if the baby will come out as a zombie (which would be bad ass if her baby bit her on the way out.

Also, looks like Carl is on the prowl to pull with the Beth chick. Atta boy Carl, I might start liking you this season.

The leg had a clean cut for as many whacks as Rick had to take to sever it.

They're all fucking infected, so why does it matter? This is the one thing about the opener I didn't get. Remember one of the farm girls was bitten too? She ended up recovering if I recall. If everyone has the virus already, then why would a bite turn Herschel into an immediate zombie? I think they're getting their story arcs confused...

The way I understand it, they all carry the infection but its dormant until bitten. Or something like that.

How far ahead is the comic book series? I know they are treated differently so it may not be apples to apples; but is there a story line that involves a cure?
