So much for the old admonition about not bringing a knife to a gunfight.

And, of course, it would appear to be Carl's gunshot that caught the attention of the zombie hoard.
Wow! If the little guy thought he felt bad before when all he did was get Dale killed...

R.I.P. X 2 Shane :tic:
(You actually looked much calmer as a zombie)

The Shane and Dale characters had run their course...glad they're gone.

I'm glad that I didn't start watching this show until the marathon that started running the Saturday before the "Nebraska" episode. Otherwise, if I'd had to wait a week between each episode, the stay at the farm would have annoyed the hell out of me. Now I have to wait a whole week for the finale, but at least it seems like the story is going to pick up the pace of the first season.

OK well, I thought last night's episode sucked. Not sucked so bad as in watching Charlie Weis take a dump after all-you-can-eat taco night sucked, but it still sucked. Yes, the Shane/Rick standoff was dramatic, but why the fuck did it happen when it did? For a soap opera with zombies in it they did a really shitty job of delivering the most dramatic moment of the show in any kind of meaningful story arc. Was it because dumb-bitch talked to Shane earlier? She didn't say shit except whine that she was sorry as usual. Was it because the little bastard came to Shane with the gun? I would have thought Shane would have liked being the go-to guy behind Rick's back. Was it because of the stupid prisoner? That makes no sense either, all he had to do was shoot the fucker and that would have been over. I mean Rick saved Shane from the zombies in the school bus an episode ago, and there wasn't even a mention of that in their "dramatic conversation" before Shane got shanked? And Shane goes full-on apeshit, decides to off Rick to take his family...and he decides to stand there and talk? And then gently take Rick's gun? WTF is that shit? If he goes Lizzy Borden batshit, he pumps his guts so full of lead, he can use him for a pencil instead. He doesn't decide to take Rick's gun, sit around the campfire, and read Sartes before shooting him. Shane put a bullet in Otis without batting an eyelash, broke the little dude's neck without so much as a thought, would have killed Dale himself if he could have...but now all of a sudden, when he can finally get everything he wants, he decides no, I'm going to sit there, watch Rick take out his gun, walk up to him, turn my eyes to the gun, gently take it from him, and then maybe we'll eat some of those fucking peaches. Fuck. These. Writers.

And Katt, I wasn't sorry Dale died, but I actually liked his character as well, at least for what it was. But I also agree that like Shane, he had run his course.

Yep. Stupidest stand-off scene ever. Judging from their choices in that scene, they were both suicidal. I mean, how 'bout you take turns stuffing your gun back into your belt/holster and double-dog daring the other guy to shoot you? Isn't that what anybody with a strong survival instinct would do in that situation? Never mind Rick deliberately turning his back on Shane when he already expected an attempt on his life.

And would someone please tell me the point of Rick not just shooting Shane? (Other than the immense "surprise" element.) With all the firearms they've discharged on the farm already, was one more gunshot really going to make that much difference? (Other than that, apparently, it did matter since suddenly all the zombies in Georgia have assembled in Herschel's woods.)

Oh, well. Sophia's dead. Dale's dead. Randall's dead. Shane's dead. Now if there were only some way to add the writers to that list...
