The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

Definitely will use the spoiler tag here with the DVR issues this week.

I thought it was a pretty good episode overall and definitely a surprise that so many heads rolled (literally) before the finale. The title "The Calm Before" is definitely a misnomer. I think the writers did an excellent job of setting up the fair and "the calm", but then they brought the storm in the same episode. Some of the deaths were not so meaningful, but Enid and Tara are relatively big deaths. The more impactful part is how many they took out and I didn't really see it coming after the scene with Alpha in the movie theater with Lydia. Speaking of Alpha coming in with the mask, pretty damn creepy. The whole episode was really creepy honestly. The only part that was a little off was the whole Beta being reintroduced and then basically just mumbling "Lydia" and walking off...no idea what that was. But really an amazing episode imo and it will be interesting to see what the response is from the groups to the Whisperers. Loved the deviation from the comics with the spikes. And of course we got the death of Henry as anticipated, glad that came earlier rather than later and not in a super predictable way. This season has been light years ahead of the past few.

One thing not spoiler based on previews for next week...”the storm” actually appears to be a physical storm, in this case. Apparently they’re having a Cleveland winter.

I think they’re were hinting at some tension between A and B...Beta risked his life, got shot and fell down an elevator shaft trying to find Lydia, who now apparently A doesn’t care about bringing back anymore, after she broke her own rulesto go get her in the first place.

Both of those items would make sense, the storm looks pretty cool. And on the A and B exchange...just thought it was a little abrupt. One minute B give Darryl the whole "rules have changed" line...then it goes to commercial...then he disappears until that line.

I watched the end on YouTube, but still have to wait until Friday for the 15-20 mins between that and when they have Daryl and Co. surrounded. Good episode from what I saw, though. In particular I thought the short clip montage at the beginning was very effective. I felt more for that couple, whom I don’t think we’d seen before, than for most of the slightly larger than bit-part characters that keep popping up like whack-a-moles.
