What's the straw man?
Look I respect this site.
I'm acting like I'm visiting my in laws. Not like I'm in a bar.
I don't like Spaulding on or off the court.
I'm not going to throw out all I know.
I'm going to bow out now as I've made my point.
A straw man is a troll tastic approach where someone pretends to ask a question but they're actually trying to set up a won argument before the conversation begins. You're setting up something so flimsy that you know it will fall down and pretend to be a win for you. Much like erecting a strawman as a fake obstacle in your way (obviously sans pole). It will just fall right over.
Smith has maturity issues. Last year was not great. That said, your straw man was laughable. He did a stellar job developing philly, Evan and Michael, none of which were particularly scintillating recruits. He also helped devin to finally figure it out and become the greatest deep ball wr Receiver in OSU history.
The straw man is absurd because most of his guys were injured or freshmen. Noah brown and Corey brown would have really changed that depth chart and both were looking pretty good before their injuries. Parris provided a much needed lift in perimeter blocking but was injured too.
Now if they finish this season with Noah, KJ, Torrance, Austin and co still looking terrible, it will be time to evaluate.
And to be crystal clear, I'm not interested in any relocated potshots from a premium board, particularly given that posters similarly juvenile (and intentionally misleading) approach to coaches and players that he dislikes. I acknowledge some character flaws that need to be ironed out. I sternly rebuke nonsense like (he can't develop his own guys ), as though OSU was anything but a mess when he got there. He didn't take over one of many loaded tressel depth charts at wr. He took over a dwindling clown show.
