Given this guy's history, I really hope he doesn't wind up hurting or killing somebody else. Second chances are one thing, but when you've got a documented history it's another. I've got no skin in this game, though, so if they're happy then I'm happy.

Letting him have the chance to not have a felony on his record-the Moellers are more forgiving than I. Question-how will the authorities know if he drank alcohol-it only stays in the system a short time,correct?

They have anklets that can monitor for alcohol.

in an unprovoked attack at a beach bar last year.

If he completes probation, Ralph G. Decker will not have a record as a felon,
part of a deal negotiated by Moeller's family and state prosecutors.

Here comes the felony conviction and the jail time, and there goes the next step toward career criminal with the second conviction, which can introduce evidence of the prior felony conviction if that gets done before the second trial.
