The steady decline of student attendance

Big-time college football has become such big business that attending a college game has a completely different feel from even the 1990s. College kids maybe don't feel so much as though they're supporting the school as going to a big, expensive entertainment event.
I go to a game because it's fun to see them play live. It's fun to participate, and though some may see cheering and filling the stands as supporting the school. I on the other hand do not. I guess I would say I support the team and players. But not the school. They have enough of my money that I don't feel a need to give them any more. Perhaps when I am done paying over 500 a month in loans I will feel the urge to support them more. But when I paid about 9000/year in tuition for 4 years then 30000/year in tuition for 2 years I think they have bled me enough. Yet I have 2 schools calling me every 6 months asking for donations. A live game is just a great way to watch my favorite teams play. And watching on TV in a bar is starting to become more fun so my 2 live games each of the last 2 years will be 0 this year.

Should I not bring up that my tuition was $190 per quarter? Boy were we pissed when it went to $210. [/old man mode]

So which one of these guys are you?

MSU AD threatening to make drastic changes to tickets plans if students don't start showing up to games.

Maybe they shouldn't try to jam them into a corner of the field? Giving Ohio State fans the area behind the endzones works fine because of the fanbase we have(even if putting students at the 50 would make the stadium louder/more intimidating). Sparty is a basketball school once the excitement is over(and they blow out the opponent or are getting beat) the fans will bail.

Based on my personal experience from attending OSU games 20+ years ago, which were all day games, students would rather go to games if they start at noon and last about two and a half hours, and would rather watch games on television if they start at 8:00 and last four hours due to excessive commercial breaks. Cold and rainy conditions magnify this effect.

You looking for sympathy? $75 for tuition, $375 for a room in Park Hall. Three meals a day except for Sunday. Sunday dinner had to be bought on the economy. Maid cleaned our room and made our beds 5 days a week. Activity card was something like $35 for all home football games and 1/3 of the B-Ball games. After freshman year I always had seats in c between the 45 -30 yard lines. Books were a bitch though, about $150 per quarter.
