The Rematch/No Rematch Thread

The BCS doesn't issue standings after the title Game. Whoever wins the game wins the the BCS Championship Trophy.

The Coaches are obligated to vote the winner of the title game #1 on their final ballots, so the winner of the game is the NC in the Coaches Poll. The Harris poll, the other human element of the BCS, does not vote after the title game.

The AP Poll is not part of the BCS, and those voters are free to vote however they choose. That's how USC got their share of the split title after the 2003 season, when LSU beat Oklahoma in the Championship Game.

What a bunch of Hollywood bull shit. The Trojans have exactly ONE crystal football denoting a BCS Championship... a situation they and the Pacific Twelve Conference subscribed to and signed on the dotted line.

Still, after yesterday's unmasking of Arkansas, I am praying that USC can lay it on Notre Dame and UCLA, or that Florida can get by FSU and Arkansas... otherwise there's no way to avoid a second game with Michigan.

This speaks to the issue of playoff games in conferences where teams play each other earlier in the season, to television money stretching the season across 16 weeks to fill their needs, to having all the BCS bowl games in SEC and Pac 10 venues. I'm against all of it.

what I really really really want is to go to Glendale and Beat USC. We beat Coker (right into retirement), Lloyd Carr 5 times, Les Miles, Charlie Wies and now it's Pete Carroll's turn. The players change but Tressel goes on and on and to take his legacy to the next level, he needs to defrock Pete Carroll.

Whoever we play, it will be a great game, but I am sure the players want to play (and beat) the best.

Go Bucks! Beat USC!

You want a good title game? Root for USC!

Trojans best-equipped to give Ohio State a tussle

Hah. Ventre went back and edited that article after USC pasted ND. Not surprisingly, his praise of the Irish mysteriously vanished:

The Irish did lose, 47-21, to Michigan on Sept. 16. But again, teams are expected to improve. This is a much better Notre Dame team now than it was then.
:slappy:

The old text is preserved in osugrad21's post; the *cough* "revised" version is here.

I'd have an easier time with the pigskin pundits if they'd just admit to being wrong once in a while.

Edit: Whoops, I forgot to mention he's now claiming ND is the "NCAA’s most over-hyped team"...

He was on the team. I'm sure he got the charm just like everyone else that was on the team.

The thread title says "beat" Michigan four times. He didn't "beat" Michigan in 2002...he did in 2004, 2005, and 2006. If you're counting just being on the team as "beating" Michigan, then Zwick also "beat" Michigan four times...

I believe the thread title is regarding if tOSU were to have a rematch with tsun as indicated in the first post.

And yes, I believe Troy would say Zwick has beaten tsun just as many time's as he himself has. :)

See? The Soonerfans get it....and they ain't even all that bright.:wink2:

Yep. Especially when the outcome will be the EXACT same. Tressel simply owns Lloyd Carr. Everyone wants to talk about how close the game was when they played. Was i the only who saw that the game was NEVER in question for ohio st.? They did lead the entire game didn't they? What is the series record since Tressel arrived? I'm pretty sure its 5-1!!! ENOUGH w/ the Ohio st. vs. Michigan crap! Its not a contest anymore. To have them play again only to get the same result would be not only a anti-climatic NC game but a smack in the face to a USC team that would beat Michigan any day of the week.

The best matchup is Ohio St. vs. USC. After this weekend of seeing USC's team speed i think its the only good matchup for st.
Except for the leading the whole game part. TSUN did go up 7-0 for a bit.

And how did Troy beat Michigan in 2002 when he was holding a clipboard as a redshirt freshman?

It is a football "team." Troy was scout team player of the week numerous times in '02. I'd say he was just as instrumental as anyone else, and since the game was at home, he was dressed. Are you telling me Rudy wasn't instrumental in numerous Notre Ame victories?

Which will/would be closer OSU-UF round I or OSU-UM round II?

OK guys question....which game will/would be closer OSU-UF round I or OSU-UM round II?

The bantering between the intelligent, rational Buckeyes and the clearly delusional, swamp gas inhaling Gators has been classic
wink.gif
The Gators seem particularly crazy when they're discrediting UM's talent?!...talking about how UM is so "overrated" and going on about how "The Michigan game was only close because of 3 turnovers."

This to me, seems really inaccurate or at a minimum a gross oversimplification/rationalization at best?

I'd say the real reason the game was close is because UM and OSU are clearly the 2 best teams in the country - and certainly the 2 best offenses! I mean both teams carved up each other's VERY GOOD defenses (to the tune of 500 & 400 yards!)....OSU 28 pts in the 1st half....UM 25 pts in the 2nd half....I mean we had a 35-31 game with a 3rd & 15 and 6 min to play in the 4th qtr...that was a pretty close game
smile.gif
....and I don't think it's fair to blame the closeness of the game on turnovers:

UM only scored 10 points off those 3 turnovers

And we can't forget OSU got 14 points off freak defensive breakdown +50 yd runs (UM's D was only giving up 35 rushing yds A GAME and hadn't given up a +15 yard run all year!)

I'd say, both the turnovers and the freak +50 yd runs would be very very very unlikely to happen again.

Seems like the real reason THE GAME was close is because OSU & UM are indeed the real #1 & #2.....and it's quite likely THE GAME round II would be close again....or at least closer than OSU-UF round 1 will be....what do you think?

i thought i heard on 1460 a couple minutes ago that they will shortly have on herbie to confront danielson. this may get a little heated (as analysts go) if it is the case. having listened to danielson being interviewed earlier on 1460 and yesterday on a scum radio show and having listened to herbie on the same scum radio show (but in another segment; not with danielson), there is some animosity here between the two.

will find out shortly if herbie will be on with danielson, too. it may be just a rehashing of the earlier danielson interview, which is what is going on now.
