The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Just sayin': I've always thought 6 is the right number of playoff teams, i.e. all five Power 5 Conference Champions and the best non power 5 Conference team. The best non Power 5 Conference team bust be a Gang of 5 Conference winner or an independent. The CFP Committee would chose the best non Power 5 Conference team and rank the six playoff teams. #1 & #2 get a first round bye and #3 & #4 gets a home quarterfinal game with #6 & #5, etc. Power 5 Conference non division winners and CCG losers have already eliminated themselves from the CFPs.

Does this plan leave Notre Dame out of the CFP ???

If so .... I love it !!!

This is the 8th time that Ohio State has finished as the runner-up in the AP Poll. No team has more #2 finishes that Ohio State (yay!):

1944: Army was AP champ; CP (coaches poll) did not begin until 1950
1957: Auburn was AP champ; Ohio State was CP & FWAA champ
1961: Alabama was AP champ; Ohio State was FWAA champ
1973: Notre Dame was AP champ; Alabama CP champ
1996: Florida was unanimous champ
1998: Tennessee was unanimous champ
2006: Florida was unanimous champ
2020: Alabama was unanimous champ

I would like to see at least 16 teams. That 24 team bracket is pretty good I think. I would much rather tune in to watch those games as some of the BS bowl games we have to watch, and we still watch. Every other level of football manages a 16 plus playoff system, from pee wee, to high school, to D3, D2, FCS, and the NFL, but for some reason D1 can't figure it out.

If you are advocating for playoff expansion, understand that you are asking for a diminishment of the regular season and with that, rivalries. The only question is of degree and timing.
I think a team only has one rival and those should remain intact. I think the regular season should be reduced a game to two minimum.

Perfect place for this, from the Pirate Genius
