The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Two weeks in. Let's see how the B1G media members picks are looking

Half of the 34 writers polled selected the Wolverines to take the Big Ten, narrowly ahead of two-time defending champ Ohio State (14). Nebraska (2) and Northwestern (1) were the only other teams to receive a vote.

Michigan’s Big Ten title game opponent? That would be Nebraska, which finished 3.5 points ahead of second-place Iowa. The Hawkeyes and the Huskers each received 14 first-place votes.

EAST: 1. Michigan, 222 points (20 first-place votes); 2. Ohio State, 214 (14); 3. Michigan State, 156; 4. Penn State, 154; 5. Indiana, 86.5; 6. Maryland, 82.5; 7. Rutgers, 37

WEST: 1. Nebraska, 198 (14 first-place votes); 2. Iowa, 194.5 (14); 3. Wisconsin, 172.5 (4); 4. Northwestern, 142.5 (1); 5. Purdue, 110.5; 6. Minnesota, 100 (1); 7. Illinois, 34

17-7 - SEC's non-conference record this season

22-3 - B1G's non-conference record this season

So of course the SEC should have 3 teams ahead of all the B1G teams.

B1G off to a great start no doubt. The Purdue and Neb losses sting but other than those no typical no conference MAC level debacles. To be fair to the SEC, they played a better early season slate. Kind of disappointed we didn’t have better matchups to kickoff the year but we will more than make up for it with our 9 game conference schedule.

Not really.

B1G teams get dropped in the polls for a loss to another B1G team.

It's not the same calculus for SEC teams when they lose to another SEC team.

What you see right now in terms of SEC volume is about what you will see at the end of the season. 5 of the top 9 teams in AP Poll are SEC. Their only losses will be to each other and therefore, essentially, not count as losses but proof of a tougher schedule.

Anyone who says the CFP committee isn't influenced by the polls and/or season long media campaigns, is really naive or lying.

Too early to get worked up about the polls. Just win baby.

A 13-0 B1G Champion will definitely get into the CFPs. Experience tells us that a 12-1 B1G Champion with one ugly loss maybe not...

I'm Sick And Tired Of The God Damn SEC Bias In The Polls

So I've held this in for a long time now and I just don't think I can take it anymore. The polls and the media favor the SEC so much and it's complete bullshit now that we have the College Football Playoff and the stupid gullible committee. It may seem like these voter rankings are harmless right now after only two weeks, but I know exactly what is going on. The media is fattening up the SEC so at the end of the season, they all have "quality losses". That's why Ohio State has been sitting at home each of the past two years. Because the committee gets their nut on quality losses. Hey stupid gullible committee: they're still losses!

Remember when Georgia finished at #5 last year because they LOST to two "great" teams in LSU and Alabama? Well the only reason they were "great" is because they beat other SEC teams! This cycle never stops. All while the Buckeyes were sitting at #6 as one loss Big Ten Champions with a dominant win over a previous top 4 team. A better win than Bama had all year! Or #4 Oklahoma. At least I'm not bitter about it anymore.

Anyways, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Try to fool me for the third year in a row, and I'm going to put my foot down. But the process has already begun, starting with the little Week 2 shuffle the AP pulled yesterday.

What did Ohio State do wrong this week…..? Someone please tell me. They won 42-0 in a game that they were only favored by 14 at kickoff. That's an ass kicking. And LSU (using Ohio State's sloppy seconds QB) did what….? Beat Texas? Texas blows. Can't be too bad though I guess….they did beat almighty 3-loss Georgia in the Sugar Bowl last year.

Another thing to note is the fall of Michigan in this week's rankings. Deserved? I guess. But it wouldn't happen to an SEC team that won a close game. They'd talk about how tough the other team played. How they rose to the occasion. But instead, Michigan dropped three spots, just enough for Florida and Auburn to jump them in the Top 10. And now Ohio State's best game of the year looks weaker. The Big Ten gets screwed year after year in the same damn way. Let's set up a Big Ten / SEC challenge! And make them come play us up here every once in a while!!

So the SEC now has three teams in the Top 4 and five teams in the Top 10. It doesn't matter if one of them loses, it's going to be against a Top 10 team. So once again, the topic of conversation at the end of the year will be if the SEC should get two teams in the playoff with two Power 5 champions having to sit at home. Because they get great wins and quality losses. All because the of the biased polls. What a joke!
