The Paul Finebaum Show (Official Thread)

I will say, based on the few interactions here leading up to the Sugar Bowl, and the general attitude on their boards over the last two week as I've lurked has surprised me. They have the most reason in that conference to be arrogant jackholes, and surprisingly many if not most were congratulatory to tOSU and were even rooting for us. They pale in comparison to the freakshow that fanbases like Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, etc are...

From my view, Florida and Tennessee are the absolute dregs, followed closely by Auburn.

'Bama's a great program and many of their fans acknowledge and respect the history and tradition of other great programs, especially ones like Ohio State that are built on tough running and stout defense. Unlike the insecure fans of those other programs, they also know that they're not going to be out of the hunt for NCs any time soon.

That is true. Bammer is in a good spot and has a legitimate stake as a blue-blood program, whereas Florida was largely shit until 1990 and have been shit for 5 years now. Tennecheat has been a dumpster fire for almost a decade, and Auburn is one of those programs that somehow manages to put together one really good season every few years, but are largely irrelevant nationally.

LSU and UGA fans seem pretty tame. Aggy fans are obviously crazy and have a weird sense of entitlement. I haven't noticed much from any of the other fanbases like Ole Miss, MS St, USCe, etc...

No, they don't. They have a legitimate stake as THE blue-blood program. There is no questioning their football lineage at all. They are one of the elites.

LSU fans seem pretty tame.

Have you met many? They have some of the most obnoxious fans out there. Shouting "Tiger Bait" directly in peoples faces is anything but tame.

it's tahger bait.

which always confuses me. gator bait, tahger bait.......the gator and the tiger don't make out well in the instances where they catch the bait. you'd think rednecks would understand how hunting works.

I must say that I profoundly misread Paul Finebaum. He is much less one of the mouthbreathers than acts as exasperated master of ceremonies letting the mouthbreathers hang themselves.

Yeah - I listened yesterday and it sounded like he was poking fun at the SEC fans who were attacking Ohio State for really not being that good ("Alabama is obviously the better team!!!") or the fans who were inches away from jumping off the ledge ("Alabama let the whole south down!!!"). It was beautiful.

The reason it got away from him is that Cam Newton stole a laptop.

There's a lot to be said about that. I was, and remain, no fan of the program that he ran at Florida. I don't think he cheated, but I think he brought in talent with no considerations to what might happen off field.

That being said, I think he looked at the monster he created and chose to, rightly, walk away from it. People learn from mistakes, and Urban at Ohio State is not Urban at Florida. We've seen it in the Hyde and Roby cases.

Given what happened at Florida, I was a little apprehensive about the hire, yet I've seen nothing with how he's running this program off field to give me the slightest concern.
