The Ohio State University Marching Band (TBDBITL)

The harassment/hazing affects both genders, and I'd venture to say that male members have to put up with more [Mark May] than do the female members.

From my experience, neither gender received it more than the other. However, the forcing of alcohol on members, the going around in underwear, etc. That's harassment. Sad that since it was originally the status quo, that he didn't get at least one more chance to remedy it since he had been director full time for only one year.

I'm more confused that these things have been going on for years (presumably with plenty of complaints before now), but is now a problem all of a sudden? Someone must have threatened more severe legal action if something wasn't done, or more serious things went on behind the scenes recently. Haven't read the report, but it sounds like typical college initiation/behavior crap that yeah, probably shouldn't happen, but is less of a deal than is being made.

The initial complaint literally came from a band member's concerned parent.
