COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the first time in program history, the Ohio State softball team will be making its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 11th overall with an at-large bid to the Knoxville Regional, hosted by the University of Tennessee. The Buckeyes were one of 32 teams to secure an at-large selection when the 64-team field was announced live on ESPN2 Sunday night.
Ohio State (34-16) is headed to the Knoxville Regional to face North Carolina (35-18) on Friday at 11 a.m. live on ESPN2. The No. 12 seeded Lady Vols (39-14) and Longwood (37-20) will play at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
This will mark Ohio State’s third trip to Knoxville in the last four years for the NCAA Tournament under head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly. It will be her sixth as a head coach – she took Miami (OH) to the NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2012.
