I wasn't comparing the programs, I was comparing the results. We’re on the same page then.
I was confused with the comparisons to southern elites.

Jax and mania are both correct. Beals seems to be meeting expectations here. He isn't the real problem, the expectations are.
I guarantee he wouldn't have lasted this long at Texas, Florida, or LSU. Correct me if I'm wrong @Nutriaitch
I’m not pro-Beals but this seems like specious logic at best.
Like Purdue or Minnesota comparing themselves to OSU in football.
The baseball comparisons should be to other B1G or MW schools.
Then understanding why we lag.
I can’t think of a legit reason why Kent has a consistently better program.
Yep. And OSU has ALREADY spent money on baseball, Bill Davis is a fine venue (as you've already seen). Ohio has PLENTY of talent too, all of whom go to SEC teams or the above mentioned programs, none of whom should be in the same stratosphere as OSU. It's 1) coaching and 2) the will to field a great program.put it to you this way…..Mainieri “technically” retired after last season. He was voluntold he was retiring.
We went to Super Regionals last season.
Jay Johnson is not even a month (games played wise) into his career here.
we have 3 losses.
3 losses where the pitching decisions have been questionable and the defense has been little league level.
there are topics openly questioning him as a coach on multiple LSU boards.
sure those are ridiculously pre-mature, but they exist.
it’s demanded here because we know what’s possible.
not saying a 90’s era LSU type run is even possible anymore in today’s landscape, but we’ve shown that LSU can absolutely be in the very upper echelon of the sport. So that’s now the goal here.
i’ve seen pics of y’all ball park. it’s now on my list of places to see a game.
you have the facilities
you’re in freaking OHIO. the birth place of pro-baseball.
the state that up until a decade or so ago always hosting the first game of the season in MLB.
fucking MICHIGAN is successful in baseball (their coach was on my short list for our opening).
hell, tOSU ain’t that far north of Louisville. and they are consistently in the top tier.
you’ll never convince me that Louisville has more access to funds/players/anything than a school the size of tOSU.
you also have to get creative with scholarships to get around the 11.7 issue.
private schools have the advantage here by being able to give all sorts of bullshit schollies to baseball players (how you think Vandy always has so many pitchers?)
the question is what type of programs does the state of Ohio have for in-state students?
Louisiana has what they call the TOPs program.
In state students with a certain GPA and ACT/SAT scores qualify for state funded assistance at and public institution in the state. And trust me when i say you do not have to be Mensa level to qualify.
That allows LSU to use more of the 11.7 on studs from out of state, because our in state guys are getting the assistance on the academic side instead.

Sure. But as you pointed out, dUMb, ND, Minny, and Louisville don't exactly have palm trees and sand and yet they somehow contend. Corvallis, Oregon (home of Oregon State 3x champs in the 2000s) is farther north than Ohio. But generally perusing the champs from the last 30 years and the vast majority are from the SEC, PAC-NN or Big-12.i will say this much though.
we southern teams do have a built in weather advantage.
most of the gulf coast for sure has year round youth baseball leagues.
so theoretically, the region just has more players available.
and again weather likely plays a part in where these kids go.
you’re not going to find a lot of kids from warm weather states that want to head up to a place where they can’t even practice outside most of the year.
but on the flip side, southern schools can talk kids into leaving the snow and ice and come practice outside in 70° temps in February.

But I'm not advocating that OSU should immediately contend with those teams, I'm saying they should be better than 4th or 5th in Ohio. There is no excuse I will accept for the OSU program being behind Kent State or, gulp, Wright Fucking State. It's a Goddamned crime.

I'll tell ya, those are great ballparks.
On a completely unrelated note, I made some damned good shrimp etoufee for Mardi Gras this year. Even though I had to make the roux from vegetable oil it was good.
I found a place that sells alligator meat in town here, so I can make so I can finally make Acadian Alligator Sauce Piquant
I'll tell ya, those are great ballparks.
Olive oil. Never thought of that. We have some that’s damned good too.trust me: use a good olive oil for your roux.
you won’t go back to anything else.
use some of that gator and put it in a Pastalaya.

Oh, I take it nice a slow. I put it on the lowest heat and stir constantly for at least and hour and sometimes 1.5 hours. Can't rush roux! I had been using the lard we rendered ourselves from the hogs my brother raised. Tha'ts good stuff too. Unfortunately he hasn't raised any since the pandemic so we don't have any lard. That's why I used vegetable oil. Not optimum, I know.just stay 1:1 with your flour, don’t let it burn, and don’t be scared to let it get really dark.
