Lefty's still out there too????Yeah, I can't see Rahm dropping two strokes but it's amazing that Phil has moved into second place just sitting in the clubhouse.

Yep, it was over after hole 12. I told my wife no one was going to catch him at that point. Brooks had fizzled and the rest were to far back. Used to the back nine on Sunday being one of the most exciting spectacles in sports on a yearly basis. 1st year I can remember since Tiger drubbed the field years ago.I know I am way late to this thread, but perhaps the least entertaining Masters I have ever watched...mostly due to the weather delays but nobody really challenged Rahm on Sunday. Seems like a good guy and all, but if someone runs away with it I want it to be an American, preferably not LIV. Aside from maybe Hovland, love that kid. But overall that was a blah Masters.
I heard of that this year for the first time as well, some of the pretentious Masters stuff like this I could deal without. Maybe stipulate that the winner won't give the jacket to a stripper in public, but this is excessive really.I never knew that the winner of the Masters doesn't own and/or get to keep the green jacket:
Jon Rahm doesn't own the green jacket for winning the Masters — and he doesn't get to keep it
Rahm won the Masters and got to slip on Augusta National's famous green jacket, but he must ask permission to wear it.news.yahoo.com
- Jon Rahm won the Masters and the famous green jacket.
- Rahm gets to hold on to it for a year, but he must ask permission to wear it in public.
- The jacket remains the property of the Augusta National Golf Club and can never be sold.
They usually let the champion borrow a members jacket until theirs has been produced. I know when Nicklaus one his green jacket they temporarily gave him Sam Sneads. They subsequently forgot to make him his own jacket so Nicklaus commissioned his own and had one made that looked like the real thing. Story goes that it was years later that the chairman of Augusta National noticed Jack’s jacket was slightly different from everyone else’s. Jack told them the story about never receiving the jacket when he won and he didn’t want to embarrass anyone or what to make a big deal out of it. Needless to say Jack received a new jacket. I think this was like 10 to 20 years after his first win in 1963….I heard of that this year for the first time as well, some of the pretentious Masters stuff like this I could deal without. Neal Shipley's dream lives on. It looks like he is the only amature that made the cut. He shot 71 - 76 = 147 (+3) and right now the cut line is at least +4.Ohio State Golfer Neal Shipley Set to Live Out Dream of Playing in The Masters
Amid his final season at Ohio State, Neal Shipley has the opportunity to live out a golf dream by playing in The Masters this week.www.elevenwarriors.comOHIO STATE GOLFER NEAL SHIPLEY SET TO LIVE OUT DREAM OF PLAYING IN THE MASTERS
As Neal Shipley rode back to the clubhouse following his semifinal win at last summer’s U.S. Amateur, he realized the opportunity he had just earned with that accomplishment.
The top two finishes of each year’s U.S. Amateur are invited to The Masters, giving the Ohio State senior the coveted chance to play in golf’s most storied tournament.
“The USGA guys pull me out to go do some media up the hill at the clubhouse, and it kind of hit me going up the hill and I turn around to my caddy (his childhood friend Carter Pitcairn, who plays at Wisconsin), we’re in the cart, he's in the back and I’m like, ‘Hey Carter, we just got a tee time at effing Augusta National,’” Shipley said. “So that was very eloquent of me in that moment, but that was kind of when it hit.”
Shipley has been watching The Masters since he was a young child, but now, he gets to live out the dream of playing in it as one of five amateurs in this year’s field.
“I think everyone who grows up playing golf competitively or at any level kind of dreams about playing at Augusta or competing in the Masters,” Shipley said. “So certainly living out one of my childhood dreams. I've heard so much about the week and how special it is, and I'm just really excited to experience it and experience the Masters and everything that it represents for our game.”
Qualifying for The Masters allowed Shipley to play numerous practice rounds at Augusta National over the past several months before this week’s tournament, and each trip to the highly exclusive golf club made him recognize the gravity of the opportunity even more.
“It really hasn't felt real until these last couple of visits and starting to see the grandstands get put up, the scoreboards,” Shipley said during an interview at the Ohio State Golf Club in March. “My first trip, none of that was up. So you start to kind of realize like ‘Man, this is really happening.’”
