Man who sold LSU equipment chooses jail over revealing player source
An LSU player owes a Baton Rouge man a pretty big favor.
Fletcher Sanders is a shoe store employee in Baton Rouge who recently sold some official, game-worn LSU football equipment on eBay. Sanders sold a pair or LSU cleats and gloves that had been advertised as being worn during LSU's victory over Ole Miss this season.
When Sanders was contacted by police about selling the items -- it's illegal to do so as the equipment is LSU property -- he told them he was selling the equipment for an LSU football player. Sanders was then given a choice by the police. He could either reveal the source of the equipment, or he could go to jail.
Sanders chose jail.
"Do what you have to do," Sanders told police according to the police report. "I am not going to be responsible for ruining someone's career."
Sanders was then booked on counts of principal to theft and possession of stolen things. He was released from jail on Tuesday after posting $3,000 bail.
LSU football equipment is leased to student-athetes, who are not allowed to give it away or sell it.

Just sayin'; At Ohio State it is a NCAA violation for as player to sell his "football stuff"; maybe the NCAA doesn't count this since it is "stolen football stuff".
