The Game: ttun at tOSU, Dec. 12 (cancelled by cowardly Vulvarines)

No tOSU alum in their right mind wants this game canceled. Seek medical attention if you are one and you do. Anyone else saying they want the game canceled is some sort of odd portion of the fan base that I want no part of.

I blame the BCS and now the CFP. I see people all over the internet who only care about "the natty", especially younger fans. It wasn't all that long ago when the goals at Ohio State were simple:

Beat TSUN
Win the B1G
Win the Rose Bowl

If you got voted national champions on top of it that was great, but it wasn't the season-long, all-consuming goal. It was a by-product of achieving your goals.

Now we've got fans who pretty much want to skip the entire season and go straight to the CFP. :bonk:

Yeah, before 1998 that was it. It was a mythical national Championship based on the polls, and if you had 10 polls you could have 10 different National Champions. Times changed with the advent of the BCS (and then the CFPs), we now have a game that results in one true National Champion. The Rose Bowl isn't just the B1G Champion vs PAC-12 Champion any more. There's nothing wrong with setting a National Championship as one of your goals. It's now:

Beat TSUN
Win the B1G
Win the National Championship.

OHIO STATE OPENS AS A 30-POINT FAVORITE OVER MICHIGAN

Per ESPN's David Purdum, the 30-point spread is the largest Michigan has faced in any game – against Ohio State or anyone else – since at least 1978.

Just sayin': With the spread and the o/u the bookies are looking at something like a 49-19 score. There's no way scUM will play the game. Herbie should take back his apology.

In addition, Gene Smith should be working with the B1G to waive the 6 game B1G CCG requirement and/or lining up another opponent for this Saturday.

and if you were a neutral bettor, would you take the 30?

Not sure that I would. Certainly not for very much.

In a change from Ohio State's last home game which featured zero attendees outside of essential staff, players' families will be allowed to attend Saturday's game against Michigan if it happens, an OSU spokesperson confirmed Sunday.

Player families were allowed to attend Ohio State's first two games of the season, but after COVID-19 cases spiked in Franklin County and across the nation, no fans were allowed to attend Ohio State's third home game of the year against Indiana. As was the case for the first two home games against Nebraska and Rutgers, Ohio State players will be able to have up to four family members in the Shoe for the final home game of the year, but families will be spaced out further apart than they were for the first two home games.

The return of family members to Ohio Stadium will allow Ohio State's seniors and others playing their final games as Buckeyes to have their families in attendance for their final home game, provided Michigan is able to make the trip to Columbus this weekend or Ohio State hosts a different opponent in the Shoe.

Ohio State's Senior Day festivities will be scaled back from previous years, as parents won't be able to be on the field for pregame ceremonies, but athletic director Gene Smith said on his podcast last week that Ohio State will try to make Senior Day as special as it can be given the circumstances.

“We’re gonna recognize our seniors virtually,” Smith said. “Big Ten Network and Fox are gonna do some things for our seniors, and not just for our team, but for all the teams in the league where they’re trying to do some senior tributes through BTN throughout the week. And then we’ll do some things in the game. Pregame, of course, on the video board. But we’ll be doing things throughout the game to recognize our seniors virtually. So we’re blessed to have an unbelievable creative team and video crew, so they’re gonna put some things together.”

Just sayin': That would be great for the seniors; however, I'm not optimistic that scUM will play.
