Is it fair to ask if our season was sacrificed to develop Dawand Jones?

I like the kid but I think the whole line rotation was off a bit this year based in guys playing out of position.

Mumford was a better tackle than guard.

Paris Johnson was one of best 5, but started out of position….so we had (2) tackles playing guard.

Meanwhile, you kinda have a 1 trick pony playing RT.

I don’t know….the line just bothered me all year. I wouldn’t say it’s on Dawand as much as it is on coaching staff to sacrifice the best “unit” just so the guys with highest upside played.

I wonder where we are if line all year is:

NPF
Jones
Wypler
Johnson
Munford

or maybe flip Munford and Johnson.

Again, not trying to pick on Dawand, but I’d say that was the sore spot in terms of running ball. There’s a lack of explosiveness and extension on his side where the run game just gets limited. In fairness, he’s largely a huge wall that stands up well in pass protection. Today was a rough day, but it’s a pint I’ve made before about guys on line playing out of position.

To be up front, I’ve never been a fan of playing “the best 5 guys”. I’ve never agreed with that premise. Centers, guards, and tackles have different skill sets needed. I think we had too many guys out of position this year and our line was SIGNIFICANTLY overrated. As a unit they didn’t work that well in run game.

Will be something to watch in 2022, IMO.

I don't want bip to leave. He has some good insight. I just wish he'd realize that once he makes his point he doesn't need to belabor it over and over for page after page. He's obviously very passionate about Buckeye football.
I don't want bip to be gone either

If I did, bip would be gone.

Bip needs to self edit tho

Concur. It’s arguably why he’s gotten more rope to hang himself than any other member of BP.

He’s legitimately a valuable contributor Sunday-Friday. It’s the Saturday meltdowns that are the problem.

He’s a passionate fan, I get it. Much respect, bukIpower.

No it's not on any of the kids. Yes the false starts made me throw shit at my TV, but we lost because of crappy defensive player development and an inability to call plays on defense.. just didn't put the players in the right positions to stop the run., Not saying LJ should lose his job, but Day needs to see if he has gone a bit soft in his training.
