Surprised the young pups didn’t get any action.Urban Meyer came in here and corrected defensive end recruiting. He signed guys that would anchor defenses for years to come. We’re sitting here with a bunch of DEs that are below expectations. ThAt shouldn’t matter, UM came in with a bunch of nobodies at DT and still pressured Stroud. But if you want to disrupt an offense, you have world class DEs. Nobody on OSU’s roster is a starting NFL defensive lineman.
You would hope the players wouldn't want to go out on this loss but I guess you never know in this eraSo with no shot at a Big 10 championship or National championship, I wonder how many are going to opt out of playing in the bowl game to concentrate on the draft?
Is the talent there? This is a defense whose best CB is a true freshman and the best LB was playing RB until a few months ago. Did the Buckeyes miss a few years on the trail? No one with a brain is calling for Days head unless he doesn't can this terrible D staff that can't utilize talent. The play calling was laughable at times, sure, but this game was in the bag if the D didn't allow a TD on damn near every possession. This was not an off day for the D, this is who they have been all fucking year.
It was a half measure...which in-season, okay; I get it. But it was slapping a bandaid on a bullet wound. Sometimes that bandaid will stop the bleeding for a short time, but eventually the wound overtakes it. These are fundamental issues wrong with this defense at all 3 levels and that requires major changes. No more half measures. You summed it up nicely. The Barnes and Coombs swap was a nice experiment, but there was nothing that showed it was a fix. This is Ohio State. You have to pay your coach 10 mill a year, and there’s no reason your assistants should be learning on the job. Send Barnes to the MAC to let him learn. Send Coombs to retirement unless you’re going to call him “recruiting manager”, but is that higher than Pantoni?
let’s just admit the correction threw window dressings on a turd. It’s like automatic blinds, covering up a turd.
I guess I can finally RSVP for my fiancé’s work party next Saturday night…I'll be on vacation and out enjoying some tropical weather rather than cooped up in the condo pulling my hair out. That's my silver lining to OSU missing the B1G championship game.
