It might be a moot point but had they gone for 2 before they would either be down 14 or 16. They would still have a shot to get 2 two pointers and tie if they missed.

Now they have 1 shot and they have to get it (most likely on the 2nd TD as they kick the XP if they score here if we can ever get a stop)

So going for 2 before would have given them 2 chances (make it and down 14 now or miss it down 16 needing to get 2 more)

Again probably moot point can't stop them at all.

Harbaugh isn't gonna throw it. He doesn't have too. They are getting 7-9 yards per carry.

If the defense gives up 7 every time it doesn't much matter.

But if we had scored a TD at the end of the half and then again to start the 2nd, Harbaugh would have gone into panic mode.

Ehhh I don’t have a lot of faith in this defense right now. Good on the offense to keep fighting though.
