THE GAME, tOSU at tCun, Sat. 11/25, 12pm ET, FOX

I’m sure you will be making excuses for him then too

Why the fuck do you have to make it personal? I never understood why people wanted to make a top 5 road game make or break for keeping Day. The same people saying it wasn't just that he lost, but HOW he lost. I knew that was bullshit, and it was.

Then the cheating scandal broke and the only changes made were the firing of Stallions (fall guy), and the suspension of the figurehead coach for 4 hours a week. Moore and Minter, who run the show and got all the cheating input, were left alone. I thought the chances of a win were pretty low until last weekend when Maryland took them to the edge. Maybe the signal scheme wasn't still a factor. Never understood the confidence fans had, though.

I doubt it was this game, but this was the whole point of their strategy. Muddle everything, delay until the end of this year and see who you can convince that now it's actually legit.

This inspired me to research who the f @sg86 was referring to. No offense, but to me the list is silly and smacks of unnecessary desperation.
Lanning (Oregon) - riding a 24-y.o. QB, still hasn't been to the playoffs.
DeBoer (Washington) - riding a 24-y.o. QB, still hasn't been to the playoffs, lucky to beat Arizona.
Elko (Duke) - 7-5 this year... in the ACC
Klieman (KSU) - 8-4
Leipold (Kansas) - 7-4
Fickell (see above)
Whittingham (He just turned 64 years old, lol!)
(I knew the whereabouts of the last two.)

OSU tends to avoid throwing caution to the wind on wings and prayers to get a complete outsider to be HC. Except for when they hired Cooper (oops). But Coop actually won a Rose Bowl.

Day will lead the Bucks to an undefeated regular season next year, it's all but guaranteed with his record against opponents the likes of which are on the schedule next year. Can we guarantee the same with any of those other coaches? And as far as I am concerned he is essentially either 1-1 or 3-1 (pending) versus Mecheatagain.

Don't worry. I'm told any moron coach can come in win 10 games and beat top 5 Michigan. I'm sure all of these guys would do it. But if they don't, who cares? Just fire him and keep hiring guys every few years until you find the right person. It's not like it'll affect recruiting or coaching. Top ranked players come to OSU regardless of the coach or situation.

At Oregon (Day already dropped a game to a worse Oregon team than they are bribing back next season) and at Penn State aren't guarantees. We lose a lot of guys. We could easily be 10-2 before Michigan

Can't wait for the chorus of "looking like 8-4" to start in the first week of September.

Checked out Twitter this morning and you can see which OSU fan boy accounts are run by young people. They aren't upset about losing The Game, they're concerned about the CFP. They're using "losing on the road by six points to the #3 team in the country" as a resume enhancer. It's just another game to them, "the natty" is all they care about.

That will be even more prevalent when the playoff expands next year.

I know this is "get off my lawn" territory, but this is just another symptom of the utter destruction of CFB. I've said all of this realignment crap is killing rivalries. We have a new generation of fans coming up that don't value the same things us older folk do/did. CFB essentially has free agency. The regular season is growing more and more meaningless with an expanded playoff. CFB is losing the things that made it great and my interest is waning more each year. It sucks because it used to be my favorite sport by far.

I said it before, I'll say it again, our guy might just be coaching in Madison. Had an outstanding five-year run with the Juggalos, had a bit of an up-and-down year with Cheese, but didn't walk into a great situation. I'm curious to see how he does next year. Day's getting at least next year, but if it goes south, bring Luke home.
I dunno, everyone here keeps saying any idiot could win 10 games with OSU's talent in the Big 10 yet Fickell went 6-7 his first year. The very same team that Urban went undefeated with the next year. And that was a way worse B1G than what Day's had to contend with. Personally count me in the "I dunno who you get" that does better than Day camp. I don't see how anyone could pimp Dan Lanning considering the big game blunder he had at Washington. Fickell has done nothing to suggest he'd be an upgrade over Day...and Day has exactly one more win over SCUM than Fickell does.

This. CFB is becoming the NFL-lite. Some see that as a positive, others not so much. We've had that debate before. My belief is still that we are losing what makes college football superior, the regular season really matters.

In reality, that wasn't going to happen anyways. The NCAA hasn't even given TCUN a Notice of Allegations yet. Once they do, TCUN has 90 days to respond. Any sanctions from them won't come down until the Spring or Summer at the earliest and there really isn't much else the B1G can do that they haven't already done.
What wasn't going to happen? I didn't say anything about the NCAA and the Notice of Allegations. I was talking about the Earle Bruce era. Speaking of Notice of Allegations, Michigan received a draft of the notice of allegations for the recruiting violations in January. I don't know if the clock started ticking on the 90 days for this one since it was a draft. I don't know if this is still open. The school took self imposed three game suspension of Harbaugh. Did the NCAA close the books on this or are more sanctions on the way.

Well, considering that multiple coaches other than Prime have come out and said what a huge advantage it was and the dynamic that tsun pushes the 22 team all over the field at home and then that same team turns around and comes within a missed field goal of dethroning UGA (and likely moving on to a NC) seems to pretty indicative. You also have all the data comparing tcun pre-Stalions to their performance with him: winning percentage, average points for and against, pass efficiency against the blitz and most damning that they were beating the spread in B1G games at better than a 75% clip. You can also look at Spin Pass going immediately from Heisman front runner to mediocre without Stalions.

I know that people are having this emotionally driven backlash against Day, but there is no way that you can look at 21 and 22 and not acknowledge that, with what we know now, he took those teams into The Game with a huge thumb on the scale in tcun's favor.
I understand that, but the question still lingers, doesn't it? Would Urban or Tressel still have lost to them, despite their cheating? Don't get me wrong, they should be forced to vacate/forfeit their seasons, but nobody ever say 100% the debacle of 2021 and 2022 was entirely due to the cheating of scUM. I'd rather if we lose, know 100% it was because they had a better team, or we blew it, because at least then I have all the information I need to go on. That's why I think you can't just give Day a free pass on those tainted games.

After yesterday, I have a good feeling some of the guys who were on the cusp of leaving will stay. Marvin is gone, but idk about Ebuka anymore after the year he had due to injuries. Also I don’t think it’s forgone conclusion that Henderson is gone either. He might pull a corum. Only people I see on defense leaving for sure are JTT, Proctor, Ransom, Tommy, Steele, and Burke. And honestly we probably need new blood at LB now anyways. I love Tommy and Steele but they haven’t showed up in big games.
Nah I’d think Egbuka still goes, same with JT and Burke.

If I’m being honest, here’s who I think should come back.

Hall, Williams, Sawyer, Simon, Hancock and Ransom.

I think Henderson, Egbuka, and Harrison should go pro though.

I think it’s more about what Michigan has returning.

They lose literally everyone and will also lose some under classman as well.

With it being at home, with their roster completely turning over and also them likely dealing with sanctions? If we lose next year something is indeed very wrong
We already know something is wrong. It starts with how the staff and players see this game as nothing more than another day at the office. Woody, Earle, Tressel and Urban put a premium on winning this game.

I was at a family gathering yesterday night and some 20 somethings were doing the same thing. I turned to them and said "Dude, they are not getting in." Take the Orange Bowl invite and recruit south Florida.
