I am. I hope it’s today. Matter of fact, that entire program can drop dead today.I’m not wishing for Desmond’s death or anything but I do hope that whenever it comes, it’s televised.
Guys I don’t know if I’m getting soft or what but my stress level is out of control and this has already taken an immense toll on me emotionally over the past 72 hours.
I’ve watched them as much as I could stand…
They’re very good because of how old they are. However they aren’t a roster full of high draft picks like ours.
So what wins out here. Talent or experience?
My very honest opinion is I’d be surprised if we won. They’re good up front (not as good as other years but good enough), very good RBs, good TE play, and a defense that doesn’t need to do much to affect the QB etc.
Overall my worry is we won’t do enough to stop the run. I really like Corum, he reminds me of a slower JK Dobbins. While I don’t think they are much of a test for our secondary I have concerns we aren’t going to force them to beat us. What I do know is running a 6 man front is just asking for 200+ yards.
Other than our ability to stop the run I also have a big concern with our inability to stay out of our own way. That means our tendency to drop the ball that would’ve been first downs (or more), over throwing wide open guys, bad bounces special teams (literally all facets), and of course turnovers and penalties.
I think to win this game we need to stop the run and play our cleanest game since we beat Clemson. Particularly playing a clean game is my largest worry but I also have doubts about our ability to stop the run (see Penn State in spots, Rutgers, and Notre Dame).
I’m going to root like hell and once I get some drinks down tomorrow I’m going to go all Jimmy Dougan on it (“we’re going to win!!”). I should end by saying that I think we can win and I think it’s 60/40 or 55/45. If we do win? Then what a way to bring everything full circle since 2021 because it’ll be in their house with the same stupid uniforms they wore in 2021 and with the same weather.
I wouldn’t be surprised by any outcome in this is game. Big wins in either direct or a close game in either direction. I really hope I’m wrong but I think with it in their house and with how veteran they are? I think we’ll make mistakes. When those mistakes happen it’ll then cause us to be on the field more than we should which will wear on the defense.
If we’re going to win, we need to come out and hit them in the mouth for 7. Put them behind and then build the lead. Force them to throw the ball.
Here’s to hoping Harbaugh wakes up with a horse head in his bed tomorrow.
Funny you say keep swinging.Good points and very possible. I think it will depend on which Ryan Day we end up with. If, after a couple of mistakes (and I agree, they will happen) he turns turtle, then he is trying to beat them at their own game and I think that will fail. He needs to keep swinging. He does that, if we get Peach Bowl Ryan Day, then I think the talent will win out.
Oh, and they are motherfucking cheaters, and at least some of that has been eliminated.
