MOVE OF ED WARINNER TO PRESS BOX PAYS MASSIVE DIVIDENDS FOR OHIO STATE IN ROUT OF MICHIGAN

64201_h.jpg,qitok=0uOyisV3.pagespeed.ce.FuxwAk7-OJ.jpg

Taylor Decker listened intently to the question, as he always does, but knew had something to get off his chest first.

Ohio State had just roasted Michigan, 42-13, in Ann Arbor to end the regular season 11-1. Decker, the team's best offensive lineman and a senior captain, won his fourth consecutive game in the rivalry. The Buckeyes put together a complete performance, but Decker wanted to let the Ohio State world know the rush to judgement Ed Warinner faced after a 17-14 loss to Michigan State a week earlier was not merited.

"Before I answer any questions, I just want to say that Coach Warinner's been taking a lot of heat. He's been down on the field with us, he didn't have the whole responsibility of calling all the plays," Decker said. "The criticism he was taking was not deserving. He's a damn good coach and I love him."

ZACH SMITH SUBTWEETS MICHIGAN'S COACHING STAFF AFTER 42-13 DEMOLISHING

64207_h.jpg,qitok=ep08oYvw.pagespeed.ce.7igVN6UMR1.jpg

"Here is the question," a Michigan recruiting flyer posed to recruits this June, "Who do you trust with your future?" It was direct negative recruiting (the kind every school does but denies doing) against Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith:

Smith's response at the time was basically "count the rings," but he saved his best salvo for this afternoon following Ohio State's 42-13 victory over the team that goaded him.

The real question that I have... NOW Who do you trust with your future? #Shhh Welcome to @Zone6_OSU

URBAN MEYER, OHIO STATE MAKE STATEMENT TO BIG TEN AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL WORLD IN FIRST MEETING AGAINST JIM HARBAUGH'S MICHIGAN

64196_h.jpg,qitok=V2BANXrZ.pagespeed.ce.dEi_qF2CHY.jpg

As soon as Urban Meyer's Ohio State players saw him the morning of the 112th edition of The Game, they could tell there was something distinct about him. Something offbeat. Something different.

"You could see it in his eyes, honestly," quarterback J.T. Barrett said. "As the day started, we wake up at 7 a.m., I know when I looked at him there was just something different in his eyes."

"He's a fiery, passionate guy, you guys know that, but the fire burned a little hotter today. I think that's a really good way to put it," senior linebacker Joshua Perry said. "He was all about getting us juiced up, ready to go."

The Buckeyes entered Michigan Stadium Saturday for a showdown with their bitter rival, the first chance for new Wolverine head coach Jim Harbaugh to put the world on notice that the tide was turning in college football's most storied matchup.

When the clock struck zero, the scoreboard indicated anything but. Ohio State dominated Harbaugh's crew in the second half, imposing its will offensively in a 42-13 statement victory.

"I've been very fortunate to be around some big-time games. Very blessed," Meyer said. "From the bottom of my heart, I told our players, that might have been the best I've ever seen."

OK, since the Game is over for this year, let's look to next year's blowout win at the Shoe. four fifths of meatchicken's OL is out of eligibility (too bad for tOSU), but maybe the backups play better. Their turncoat QB (Rudock) is finally out of eligibility, and there was an unknown name at QB when Bosa took Jake down, so Shane Morris may not be a factor. Three fourths of the DL go away, leaving only one, plus two (?) of the four DBs ride off into the sunset. The main strength of SUN runs out of eligibility, so not sure what or why 'they' are projecting SUN to be the front runner. MSU and tOSU bring back more talent next year. (tOSU could also be gang busters if the OL fills its holes and several juniors stick around for their senior season. Our LBs will all be juniors (Booker taking over for Perry- if Darron stays), and return all the DBs ( I know, Bell is a gonner), but Erick Smith will fill in nicely. DL won't be as bad as anticipated, no one will be a Bosa :(, but if Hill can take over for Adolphus, the DL should still be stout.

JT is unquestioned QB, and RB will be certainly weaker w/o Zeke, but serviceable. WR will lose Thomas, but gain back two or three injured WRs that could be better than decent. I'll go on record saying that Hausman will start, or get more minutes than Baugh. Punter (?), should be back (I hope)....All in all, there are many pieces back. Holes to be sure, but that's why tOSU pays their coaches like princes, to coach them up. Top ten pre-season, top four post season. Go Bucks.
