Game Thread THE GAME, Nov 29th, High Noon, ABC (It was a nice Time For War while it lasted)

I'm fine if it's connected in some way*, but otherwise... spot on.
I was also brainwashed that camo should never be worn in public, so I even wince when I see all the ROTC wannabes (most of whom haven't gone through OCS - and thus not earned the right to wear it afaic).
There are service and dress uniforms specifically meant to be worn in public. The day I notice Naval Academy cadets show up to games wearing dungarees... I will flip my lid.

*ie: some teams have worn alt uniforms to benefit Wounded Warrior Project

I'm 7-3 with my attendance at THE GAME. Wins in 82, 84, 98, 02, 04, 06, and 12. Loses in 86, 88, and 96. Of all the THE GAMES I've been to, I'd have to say 02 and 06 are tough to pick between as a favorite. Obviously, both of those THE GAMES were needed to make it to the BCS championship game, so both were very intense. Both were close, both had wild ups and downs with tense moments. I guess 02 is a bit more special in hindsight since we one the BCS NCG afterwards.

I must be in, "Hey, you kids get off my lawn!" mode - it is Michigan Week after all - but you earn the right to wear camo by raising your right hand and taking the oath. I admire athletes for what they do on the fields of sport and I honor them for their achievements, but they haven't earned the right to wear camo and pretend to be something they aren't. You can wear your own school uniform and still support Wounded Warriors, or DAV or any number of agencies who work on behalf of vets.I guess I see camo on a sports uniform and I go back to that asshole Kellen Winslow proclaiming himself, "A warrior," Or the earlier Miami thug team showing up for their bowl game in camo warmups.

On a separate note, as to camo in public, the army has eliminated the Class A uniform, so it's cammies, Dress Blues or Latin Dictator Mode. upload_2014-11-24_13-45-5.png

Same here.

In the still on that script Ohio video you see a little sliver of sunlight up in C deck. That has where I was.

2002
2006
2012
2014 will be the ones I have seen live

Not a bad list if you have only made it back home for 3 and counting I must say.

Man, talk about a treasure chest! Wish I could be there (was for Rutgers, however), but I'll be glued to the TV on Saturday. Enjoy the hell out of it, my man!

GO BUCKS!!! :urban2:

never actually had tix to THE GAME but I have been down there twice and we are 2-0...

1994 coops first win = sold hot dogs to raise $$ for RHS baseball.

2006 #1 vs #2 = tailgated outside the stadium all day. best game experience without actually being inside the stadium in my life

Definitely not how the service I was in handles business. Even in boot camp, you had to wear the uniform in various stages of (often embarrassing and doofus-like) incorrectness until the final week when you finally got versions with the service name's nametape and the logo ironed onto the pocket. Didn't rate the logo on any uniforms until grad week when they'd also stop calling us "recruits" and allowed to refer to ourselves in the first person.
If a ROTC guy has already gone to OCS (a lot go their final summer break), then I respect them. Til that point, they're no different than the JROTC tools I saw in HS. And a lot of them are tools. Most of them have played too much CoD.
Poolees aren't real members of the military - neither by earning it nor legally. Anyone can pull out up to that point, and today you can even pull out once you're in basic with minimal damage (though they will make sure it's quite a scene with Police etc. to intimidate anyone else having second thoughts.) There is a reason they make you do all that paper work and swearing-in over again at basic. The commitment made at MEPS doesn't have much behind it, and mostly just for show.

Whenever I traveled down to Tacoma area, it really annoyed me seeing all the Army and Air Force people hitting up bars, restaurants, stores, etc. in camo. It's partial brainwashing I guess... but if I were a car mechanic, I wouldn't wear coveralls to a restaurant either. Have some self pride and change into an appropriate uniform, or civilian attire.

What do West Point cadets wear to games? I always see them with the Highlander trench coats... so I know it's not cammies underneath (gortex goes over cammies), has to be some kind of service or dress uniform. Or is it a West Point specific deal?
My green service uniform was ugly as sin... but I'm pretty sure that's "working as intended", thus providing incentive to buy the Dress Blue Jacket as an alternative (Jacket wasn't a required uniform item so not issued and not provided for in yearly uniform allowance -- costs ~$600 after all the changes+tailoring)
