I think had Smith not been along the boundary it would have been called. Being that close to the sideline (and needing to jump for the ball) put enough doubt into it to make it less than obvious.

More hurry up offense I think also is what needs to happen. Why are we giving this defense time to think? We went hurry up the last drive and went 85 yards in 2 minutes. We did in 2 minutes what it took them 8 minutes.

The offense needs to run at tempo a lot more than they really do. Urban likes to say they run it, but far too often they're snapping the ball around or under 15 left on the play clock.

I don't think the scUM D can handle the tempo game nearly as well, and I want to see them run it much more in the 2nd half.

They still aren't going to call it when it was that close and in the air like that. I don't know why we're debating it.

Not to mention that if it was our defense and they called PI the same people lobbying for it now would be complaining about the call.

That's definitely PI that they didn't call for Smith. Had we done it to scUM (and we'd have been called for it I know) I would agree it's PI for them. I guarantee in this game scUM gets a PI call there way a lot more questionable than that one.

Fair enough, but I think my point is still valid. I would like to see this team rely more on clean, solid, fundamental football, and less on "juice" and emotion. We have FAR better coaching and talent than any team in the B1G, but we always seem to play those teams close.

Herman and Fickell better be getting their shit together and peeling paint off the walls.
Not their best effort in the first half and the players have been off as well, but that's where coaching comes in. Michigan hasn't looked like that all season and they come out and play the half of their lives. That's coaching.

We'll see if Fickell and Herman can coach or if they can only pucker.
