Ohio State vs. Michigan Football Streamer Drop!

This will be cool (received email)....

Let?s make history! Buckeye fans, if you are receiving this email it means that you have been selected to take part in the first-ever streamer drop from your seat location in C deck. In all, there will be 4000 streamers distributed around the first four rows of C deck at Ohio Stadium. As you arrive at your section, the usher will give you a streamer and show you a print out of what the stadium will look like once the streamer drop has happened.

The plan is simple, and this is where you come in: At kickoff on Saturday, take your streamer and throw it over your seat location towards the field. The end result will be a cascade of Scarlet and Gray falling from C deck as a symbol of support for your 11-0 Buckeye football team!
We appreciate your support and help in making this event a success!

Thanks and Go Bucks!

I watched the HBO special (again) with my 2 kids 9 & 13.

I screamed at them like Woody would have before THE Game.

They are a little freaked out right now, but it was the right thing to do.

If screaming at your kids is wrong, I don't want to be right.

No. 19 MICHIGAN at OHIO STATE

Adam Rittenberg: The Game has become a lot more interesting for two reasons -- Devin Gardner's emergence at QB for Michigan, and Ohio State's progress on the defensive side. Gardner will make some plays and get Michigan out to an early lead on a scoring pass to Roy Roundtree, but Ohio State will respond behind RB Carlos Hyde, who will get the ball more (as Urban Meyer said he would) and finish with 120 rushing yards and two scores. The Game lives up to its billing and goes down to the wire. Braxton Miller scores the game-winning touchdown with 25 seconds left. ... Ohio State 24, Michigan 21

Brian Bennett: Meyer said Tuesday he would open up the offense after getting conservative at Wisconsin. Combine that with Gardner and Denard Robinson on the other side, and I think we're in for a shootout. I could see either side winning, but after 11 straight wins, how can you pick against the Buckeyes? Miller wills them to another victory, finishing with 375 total yards and four touchdowns. ... Ohio State 35, Michigan 31

Jim Delany wanted The Game changed to earlier in the season, the alumni/fan bases did not (Ohio State much more vocal). And the game didn't get changed initially when we went to divisions.

Hate the fact that they were even talking about moving the game off the final weekend on "Big Ten Football & Beyond*" Wednesday.

Having the two schools in the same division would solve it, but either OSU or TSUN doesn't want to be in the same division.

If Delany gets his way -- and I think he might -- the game's going to be earlier. Hate changing things just based on chance.

*Gerry DiNardo said it should be earlier for the greater good of the conference (which I don't agree with).

Won't happen. He wouldn't be able to survive the backlash. He's not stupid enough to piss off the two biggest fan bases in the country.

Forget Delany, I don't trust Gene Smith in any way on this subject (the date of The Game).

He's two-faced, bad judgement and doesn't care about the Ohio State fan base and traditions.

I wouldn't trust Gene Smith ordering lunch, let alone running the athletic department. He's going to say one thing, and then do the complete opposite with the conference office.

Nor do I, but I assume Gee has the say in this matter, not Smith.

What we can do is rank the rivalries in terms of importance for this particular season.

2. No. 19 Michigan at Ohio State

While this one has no BCS significance, it can tidy up the national championship debate.

What better way to end Urban Meyer's debut season in the Big Ten than to cap off an unbeaten record with a win over Michigan?

I've gotten a steady stream of questions lately about whether the Buckeyes could claim the AP title if they finish as the only undefeated team in the nation. I would seriously doubt it, considering the following:

? Probation
? Several close calls against less-than-stellar opponents
? No signature wins to offset those close calls
? The Buckeyes will be out of sight, out of mind after this weekend

If Ohio State wins, it will always be left to wonder what could have been had they self-imposed a bowl ban last year. That question can't be answered. What will be unquestionable is that Urban Meyer will be the Big Ten boss, the prospect of which makes Michigan's skin crawl. Brady Hoke can't even bring himself to say, "Ohio State," opting for "Ohio," which chaps those in Ohio.

Michigan may have ended a four-game losing streak to Michigan State, but the Wolverines have otherwise flopped in big games. This is their last chance to win a game with national significance.

They flopped against Alabama. They fumbled against Notre Dame. They fizzled against Nebraska in a loss that likely will keep them out of the Big Ten title game. A win over the Buckeyes would make up for of those missteps.

The best note on the rivalry this week came from Tim May, standout writer for the Columbus Dispatch, who tweeted: "In prep for 109th version of The Game, remember, Michigan's coach grew up in Ohio; Ohio State coach's initials are U.M."

The two enemies have more in common than you might imagine.
