Well. It was never about "logic" anyway! :( It's about "belief".
While Jake would love us to point and laugh at the Christian Kooks as the basis for his post, it is interesting in one sense, in that the topic does present us with the reality that the majority of these people are very nice individuals, with very good educational backgrounds, who are articulate in defense of their theories (even if they do not really call it a "theory", which would denote some opening that the Bible is inerrent)....

And it does show how equally dead set most of us are in not being open minded to the possibility that they are in any way correct. I think is all preposterous, mind you, and an insult to the scientific method. But I have to admit that I am guilty of a narrow intellectual view and considerable arrogance in that I don't really even want to listen to them or their beliefs before I start mocking them in my own mind.

To avoid being hypocritical we should at least sit thought the spiel before we attack it...which is not to say we should not attack it after.

....all Republicans aren't born again moral majority zealots?

Well, a few are effete, Connecticut Country Club Wasp bankers - with no souls - who pull the strings on the born again moral majority zealot puppets while preying on the finances of the middle class.

It was in Mother Jones.

Hold on Jake.....you're suddenly not a fan of Christian fundamentalism??

I figure anyone who creates displays of kids playing with dinosaurs in a "museum" is worthy of ridicule.

But enough about that, how long have you been a carbonist? Do you have something against dark minerals? Hmmmm????
