I thought it would be humorous if he made it up, but now that I know he did make it up.. it's stupid and pathetic on his part. Looks like he wasted quite a few peoples' time from the looks of the crowd in the picture. Embarrassed a lot of people, including himself.

I feel bad, but not really.

Player makes up story that colleges recruited him

RENO, Nev. -- A high school football player who said he was duped into believing he was recruited to play college football admitted yesterday that he made up the story. Kevin Hart, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman for Fernley High School, offered a broad apology in a statement he issued through the Lyon County School District. Hart said he had wanted to play football at a Division I school "more than anything."

My question in this whole thing is how could this guy pull this off? I get the impression he doesn't have a division one offer from anyone. Wouldn't someone like a coach or teammate become somewhat skeptical about someone so marginal getting recruited and committing to a Pac 10 school? I realize he looks the part being 6'5 290 but a coach, parent, teammate would have to call BS on him at some point.
