The bizarre story of Kevin Hart (official fraud)

I see that you've never been to Fernley. Clearly someone less ignorant about Fernley, NV would certainly know that he'd buy a tallboy of Coors (banquet beer not the compromised "light")

To offer due diligence, I pride myself on my ignorance of Fernley, NV, where no man has gone before.:tongue2:

Just saw the story again today on OTL. I was thinking this just the other day since we are at commitment time once again. Few thoughts...

-- As dumb as this kid is to try to pull off this prank (apparently thinking there'd be no repercussions), the people around him are dumber for not checking into it. Apparently the coaches thought the kid "was handling his own recruitment" with the help of his parents:slappy:and the parents thought that the coaches were working with their son on his recruitment.

-- I guess this just shows even in the information/internet age, someone can pull something like this off, given the right circumstances.

-- This reminds me of back in the late 80's/early 90's Bobby Knight staged a fake recruitment of a basketball player from Eastern Europe or Russia known as Ivan Renko. It was basically done to mock the whole recruiting process, and to make fun of recruiting writers/"experts" who really had no idea. He had these people believing him so much that they started making up profiles about the kid, his strengths and weaknesses, etc. It was classic.

-- If he (Hart) would have pulled this off to make fun of the whole amateur athlete recruiting obsession that our society has embraced, and how sad it is, I would have thought it was frigging hilarious. If I was him I would have changed my story at the very end and said I did it for this reason. Instead of just compounding lies with more lies.
