Ohio State alums have finally put a team together for this 5-on-5 tournament that has a $2million prize (This will be the 4th year of the tourney). They landed as the #2 seed in the Midwest bracket.

Teams are comprised of 1 GM, however many coaches and boosters they want, and up to 15 players. Ohio State's team "Scarlet and Gray" has:

GM - Scoonie Penn
William Buford
Aaron Craft
Jon Diebler
Dallas Lauderdale
David Lighty
Nate Miller (Bowling Green)
Greg Oden
Evan Ravenel
Leon Rodgers (Northern Illinois)

Games start July 8th overall, the Midwest games start on July 15th at Bradley University.

Other teams of note:

Overseas Elite - 2 time defending champs
Boeheim's Army - duh
The Stickmen - GM/player Michael Rapaport along with Joe Alexander (WVU) and Bryce Alford (UCLA)
Ole Hotty Toddy - Ole Miss Alumns GMed by Marshall Henderson
Paul Champions - Earl Boykins earned one of the 4 play-in spots

Crazy set-up. The Bucks can definitely win this, but Syracuse looked good, too. Not sure what's so great about Overseas Elite other than CJ McCollum on the roster, but I don't think he can play in this? Don't see any other current NBA players...

McCollum and any other NBA players are "Boosters" correct on them not actually playing.

That Stickmen team looks head and shoulders above everyone else I've looked at... in addition to Joe Alexander and Bryce Alford, you've got Willie Warren, Cartier Martin, Donald Sloan, and Lou Amundson who all had more than just cups of coffee in the league.

Think other teams in addition to the ones listed above that will be real tough are VCU (Eric Maynor, Reggie Williams), Golden Eagles (Dwight Buycks, Darius Johnson-Odom, Jerel McNeal), Armored Athlete (Talor Battle, Tu Holloway, Will Sheehy, Christian Watford, Jordan Hulls), Trained to Go (Damien Wilkins, Jamario Moon, Glen Rice Jr.).

Not sure the OSU team has enough offensive firepower... lots of shooters and good defenders, but not sure where the offensive spark is coming from. I'd be interested to see, if they advanced a couple games, if they would try to recruit anyone else. Deshaun Thomas, Daequan Cook, Michael Redd all seem like guys who could potentially contribute there, if needed.

Fan contest goes through July 8. Now, I have no idea if we're so far behind at this point such that it won't matter (and obviously it only matters if tOSU wins anyways), but the leader for OSU has 149 right now. I believe that assuming we can all successfully register from the same Fan link, we can get 3 votes per voter for the recruiter, which would put us with at least 50 people needing to do it to take the lead... seems eminently reasonable to me.

Probably something we'd want @Clarity or @LongwoodBuck to do if we think it's worth the time.... not that I don't trust all you guys, but...

Adding @Deety.....this is a great idea. In theory, we could use this method and have the top "fan spot" for a lot of the elite teams be somebody associated with BP.

Well the deadline is coming up, and I know the bosses are busy.....so here's a link to join and vote for The Scarlet & Gray. It will give me points as a recruiter. If they win the whole thing, any money that "I" win will be donated to BP.

All right, I'm not quite following. I just registered and received one point. How does the site know you recruited me? The link you just posted makes you a recruiter?

And, I can look at the list of recruiters....Amber C. leads with 152 points. Who are you going to be?
