"The crowd at Bradley was really good, came out and supported them," said Scoonie Penn, the head coach of Scarlet & Gray. "Had I known as much as I know now, we can bid to have it here in Columbus. Imagine if we had this in Columbus? We could really have a lot of people here being involved. That's something to think about in the future."
A spokesperson for The Basketball Tournament said they experimented with having regional games played in one of the alumni team's home arenas this year, and have been pleased with the results. Official attendance numbers aren't available, but Columbus would certainly be a location they'd consider as soon as next year.
With it sounding like Scarlet & Gray will become a TBT mainstay for the foreseeable future, the event eventually coming to Columbus seems inevitable.
"That would be awesome if next year, I'm sure they're gonna do this tournament again next year, to have some of the rounds in Columbus," Jon Diebler said. "With our fan support, we have the best fan base in the country. We had some Buckeye fans out in Peoria."
