Spring training is over, and the real baseball season begins tonight with the BoSox & Yankees, weather permitting.
Who's everyones' favorites?
I think the Twins win it all this season, hold off a charging and emerging Indians club, and are the best built for the short post-season series, whether they get the Yanks or the BoSox. The Twins have had the best defense for awhile and the pitching staff is solid coming out of the gate. I think they get over the hump this year.
I grew up a fan of the Big Red Machine, my dad regularly took me to Riverfront from about the time I was 5, so I grew up rooting for Bench, Rose, Morgan, etc ... but the Reds don't have a shot when the staff ace is Paul Wilson. Dunn and Casey just aren't enough to carry the team over 80 wins, and I won't believe Griffey can play 85 games in a season until he actually does it. Dunn fanned nearly 200 times last season, and the best off-season pick-up was #2 starter Eric Milton, who served up 40+ taters last year. The NL central isn't the right league to build a midmarket club on a budget, and the Reds aren't even as good at doing it like the Twins or As. I think the Reds roar out of the gate and flame out down the stretch, just like last year. (Though that won't stop me from making about 5 trips down to the Queen City this year to cheer them on).
