The $67 Million Pair of Pants

Pantsless in Court -- yep, today was the day the $54 Million Pants Suit came to trial.

Seriously - would anyone fall for that in a court of law?

And there is rich stuff from the first day ...

Too ridiculous - they ought to disrobe the judge and let him go completely naked into the sunset. He clearly has a screw very loose.
Now I have to wonder if he pissed his pants on the stand? oops they were lost weren't they?

Not that I could find, yet.

Perhaps OnPoint will run it - though they tend to be pdf files.

Maybe one of the bloggers will get the full transcript. Should make for humorous reading based on the day by day highlights.
HIllarious stuff from Sandgk's link.
The judge wants $15,000 per weekend for car rental for driving his clothes to another dry cleaners.:slappy::slappy:

The Closeted Truth
After some confusion over what a particular photograph that had been entered into evidence actually depicted, Judge Bartnoff said it appeared "to show two things: One is that Mr. Pearson owns lots of pairs of pants." Indeed, Pearson testified that he had in his closet somewhere between 40 and 60 pairs of pants--and he insisted that not one of them comes with cuffs--proving, he said, that the pants Custom Cleaners tried to return to him were not and could not be his.

Among Pearson's many demands for big money was his calculation that he deserved $15,000 to pay for renting a car every weekend so that he can drive his clothes to a dry cleaner other than Custom Cleaners, which is the only cleaners within walking distance of his home in the Fort Lincoln section of Washington. Judge Bartnoff could barely hold in her laughter as Pearson spelled out his potential car rental costs over the next decade.

On a side note, Korean Dry Cleaners tend to be the best. Every time I move to a new city I search it out for a Korean dry cleaner to use. It's too bad these people are tarnishing the image for the whole group. Perhaps they will learn a lesson from all of this about customer service.

I think the fact that they offered to settle for thousands of dollars shows that they understand some facts about customer relations.

The pantsless judge is making a mockery of the legal system, and he should be made to suffer some serious consequences.

The only way I can figure it is that the guy is trying to make a point about what a joke the legal system has become and is doing a great job keeping a straight face as he puts us all on. I mean, this just CANNOT be real, can it? He must be kidding. Dear god, please let this be a hoax. Please.

Model Rules of Professional Conduct

Advocate
Rule 3.1 Meritorious Claims And Contentions

A lawyer shall not bring or defend a proceeding, or assert or controvert an issue therein, unless there is a basis in law and fact for doing so that is not frivolous, which includes a good faith argument for an extension, modification or reversal of existing law. A lawyer for the defendant in a criminal proceeding, or the respondent in a proceeding that could result in incarceration, may nevertheless so defend the proceeding as to require that every element of the case be established.

Seems to me to be a problem with the bar in the near future.
