The 2020 College Football Season

Because when I think about a "voice of reason" for safety on a football field, the names Jack Swarbrick and Brian Kelly are the two who immediately jump to mind.

As for the "midwest's team?" No thanks. It'll be like any other year, and I'll be sacrificing a goat to Zeus in my bathtub in the hopes that the entire team, coaching staff, band and bearded faux leprechaun fuck all catch some combination of bubonic plague, leprosy, shingles, genital herpes and AIDS.

I believe you may want to direct that sacrifice to Asclepius but I may be wrong. I haven't been as good about offering sacrifices to the gods as I should be.

Maybe this is all my fault.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF STAYING PUT. Even though 40 percent of the Power Five conferences and almost half the committee's schools have postponed their seasons to the spring, the College Football Playoff Committee is trudging along, for now.

"We don't know right now what the season will bring, but as a committee, we are ready to use the protocol and the expertise of the 13 people who have been charged with selecting the teams," said Gary Barta, Athletics Director at the University of Iowa who is beginning his first year as committee chair.

"The committee's task is to rank the teams based on what happens on the field. This week gave us a great chance to catch up with the familiar faces and welcome our three new members to the process. If the board and management committee say we are having a CFP, we will be ready."

The selection committee reviewed its weekly ranking announcements, went over its protocol and finalized its list of members who will be recused from voting or discussions regarding selected teams.

"This was the time when we normally review all aspects of the committee's operation," Barta said. "We accomplished a great deal even though we met by video conference. We will have another opportunity to review the procedures—particulary with the three new committee members—this fall."

A thought: what's stopping the committee from just deciding to put Ohio State in the playoff simply because believe the Buckeyes are one of the four best teams based on talent alone?

I mean, the playoff will be played in January, which is when Ryan Day and the NFL seem to want to start the spring season. Why not kick off the season with a natty?

Put us in, cowards.

Another reason to hope the whole thing gets flushed. You can predict Clemson, Alabama, Notre Dame and (insert SEC team) right now. The TV boys will love it and they'll play it up as if everyone participated and these were the "best" teams.

By the way, if that happens fire everyone who voted to kill the B1G on August 11th.

Something may be brewing in the ACC.

I’m aware “it’s only Syracuse” but this is something that may quickly catch on with others

If one of the 3 remaining conferences votes to shut down, it will be the ACC. Just look at their make up and how many are true football schools. That majority of presidents who are against playing could creep up on them quickly. Syracuse, BC, Virginia, Virgina Tech, Duke, Wake Forest, North Carolina, NC State, Louisville, and Pitt are all schools that I think could shift over to not playing. Clemson might have the loudest voice but that might only last for so long.

Norvell was brusk in his responses to questions about Thursday's social media posts, which came from Tamorrion Terry, D.J. Matthews and Warren Thompson. Norvell said he has not spoken to any of those players about their concerns.

Cindy Rewis, Terry's guardian, also tweeted Thursday, asking for more transparency from Norvell, and she said on Friday she has not heard from the coach.

The lack of communication at Free Shoes between the coach, players, and parents is mind boggling, hasn't Day been talking to the players and their parents all along?
