The 2020 College Football Season

Oh boy...the shutdown threshold of 5% positivity rate on a team is going to make things very, very dicey. That's what, like 5 or 6 players?

Great question.

Is it 5% of the scholarship players or 5% including walk-ons?

If the latter, time to pack the roster with guys who test negative and are willing to be quarantined until the end of the season.

This might be why they're waiting 5 weeks before they start playing. Let any positive tests run its course and perhaps come season time hopefully it won't be an issue.

And games have been being played for 3 weeks and there haven't been any outbreaks we're hearing of. Perhaps naive optimism, but I think it will work out.

They have to get a certain number of practices in before they can play.

Didn't Texas Tech have a major outbreak. As did Memphis?

I am trying to be an optimist, but the cynic in me says there are two ways for the naysayers to play this.

First is to say No - but the push back was too great for the cowardly.

Second was to agree to a plan that can't succeed.

Unless this plan allows things to move forward even if a few games can't be played simple carelessness or even sabotage from one of 14 could end it all.
