Game Thread That Team Up North @ Ohio State - 11/24/18, The '62' Game, Revenge Revoked

Don’t Expect Buckeye Fans To Sing A Different Tune on Saturday

Ohio-State-Michigan-Tunnel-Of-Pride-2014.jpg

We have seen Ohio State dominate parts of games this year and we have also seen them get punched in the mouth.

Don’t get it wrong though, this is still one of the most talented teams Ohio State has ever assembled.

Give me this passing offense any season and I’ll take it. The D-line has been solid even without Nick Bosa. But there have been struggles, such as defending the running game and the play in the secondary.

A key thing to look at, which we have been saying for a while, is to look at the combined running game for the Buckeyes. JK Weber has over 1,600 yards rushing this season with at least one game left.

Damn solid year overall for the Buckeyes offense. The growth of Zone 6 is another huge step. Even the tight ends have made appearances and impacts, as they did in the Maryland game.

For Ohio State to move on and to make the playoffs, the defense needs to play respectable ball. The offense should have some success against Michigan, but the Silver Bullets need to return and make an impact.

The playoffs shouldn’t be the goal right now, however. Beating Michigan should be. When that’s done, the goal is beating Northwestern. Many other things have to happen after that, but they will.

Whole schemes and packages need to be re-evaluated. Having linebackers stay home would help. I don’t expect a miracle, just an improvement.

State the most important aspect of this game, and it probably comes down to the OSU defensive coaches putting their players in positions to succeed. And keep in mind, there are people here familiar with the way Michigan’s OL is going to play. Ya know…with that whole “our old coach is their coach now” thing.

Of course, the overall game plan won’t be Ed Warinner’s, but he will be playing an important role. Just like he knows the OSU defense and will be contributing that info to Michigan’s defense

Michigan is playing the best football they’ve played heading into The Game since, really, before Jim Tressel took over. And they’re pissed and looking for revenge.

We’re coming into this game not just chasing our CFP goals, but as an underdog. Ohio State can not only win The Game, win the division, and play for a B1G crown, but they can do something even more special than that — ruin yet another Michigan season.

From someone who grew up during the Cooper years but got to enjoy the Tressel and Meyer years, there’s nothing I enjoy more than ruining Michigan’s year.

Ohio State dominating The Game recently seems to have taken some luster off of the rivalry. Seeing the Wolverines and their fans feeling their oats, however, should remind everyone how necessary this win is. The underdog card will help. The disrespect will help, and ultimately I expect the Buckeyes to play their best game of the year.

I haven’t seen it posted, so apologies if it was....

The Greek-Roman comparison nailed it in my opinion.

Ramzy and Bacon can both go fuck themselves.

Tired of that post Cooper era, millennial twat thinking he speaks for the whole fanbase.

Who seriously spends a nanosecond wishing we were like tsun in any way, shape or form?

'Gee wouldn't it be great to be a silver spoon sucking, entitled, baselessly arrogant cocksucker?'

Who does that? Besides Ramzy, I mean.

We just got a flat in Indiana on our way to Columbus and a guy stopped and helped me change it-he was wearing a Purdue sweatshirt! Seams like a sign...not sure what it means.

Have said it before, but I have always enjoyed Purdue tailgating and their alumni.

Pay it forward. Karma is nothing to fuck with. Damn, I may go find someone with a flat tire in Chicagoland to help to double down.

Appalled.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Throwback Asshat of the Day: Wilton Speight, QB

Years: 2015-2017

Record Against OSU: 0-2

Lowlights: one of the latest in the long line of supposed Great White Hopes, Speight debuted in the 2015 game going a scintillating 6/14 for 44 yards and a pick. In 2016 he threw for 219 yards and 2 TDs and 2 picks, coming up just short in the 39-27 loss. Halfway through the 2017 season, he was done playing at Michigan. He is now at UCLA, helping to ruin Chip Kelly’s debut season.

That last sentence made me chuckle.

I call this one out because it speaks to why, as a reasonably sane adult, I get so into Buckeye football;

It has nothing to do with the results of games validating my existence. My family, the work I do for my organization and the work I do in my community accomplish that for me.

I stay away from using "we" when discussing the Ohio State football team but when it comes to the eternal struggle with tsun, the eternal struggle between good and evil, the eternal struggle between the positive values I was taught as a youth and the wanton arrogance and entitlement I was taught to revile, then I feel absolutely justified in using "we" because The Ohio State University is the school that represents where I am from. What I was taught. Who I am and, more importantly, the people who raised and taught me. It doesn't matter if you went to school at OSU, if you were born in Ohio or have become a fan through marriage or some other circumstance. We are all Buckeyes.

So, when I see these bastards flaunt their arrogance they are disrespecting the state of Ohio, The Ohio State University, my family, my ancestors and my heritage. It isn't about what happens on a football field, this is about the fields our families worked in the boiling heat and freezing cold to put food on their own table and many others. Those fields are where they taught us a work ethic and right from wrong. Be humble, work hard, serve others.

Those fields of the past are where I picture some arrogant, entitled punk from the "Harvard of the West" spitting on my ancestor because they were born into more wealth. Be an entitled douche, do nothing, the world is here to serve you.

I, for one, shall be damned if I ever let that happen without a fight. I don't care if the sports teams at Ohio State lose 1000 times in a row. I will never give up the fight. If you love The Ohio State University for the same reasons, if you know it or not, these bastards are doing the same to you.

So then, the question becomes are you going to join the fight or are you going to sit there with your arms crossed in the corner pouting and bitching about the things that aren't perfect?

If it's the former, then show up and cheer your lungs out. Watch it from wherever you can and do the same. Don't quit if it goes against the team for stretches of the game. Stay in it, cheer them and give them every ounce of positive energy you have until the end. If you choose the latter then I pity you but I don't have time for you.

Go Bucks!!

Fuck *ichigan!
This. This needs to be pinned for eternity here on BP. Future members of Buckeye Nation need to know what exactly is at stake in this fucking war! And yes. it's every bit as much a war now as it was in 1835 when the soulless heathens tried to steal what was rightfully ours. I live in the strip of land that was disputed, and the thought of being a part of that vile stinking cesspool of a state gives me nightmares! @Jaxbuck has eloquently expressed how this yearly battle is about so much more than a football game. This is the part other fanbases don't understand. (Looking YOUR way Slappy Valley) When Woody called it a war, he was right. This is about Good vs Evil, Right vs Wrong, Light vs Darkness. Well said Jax! Some of your posts this week have been the best reading I've done on this board in a long time!

Praise Woody
Go Bucks
Slay *ichigan
