Thad Matta (OSU's All Time Winningest Coach & 3x B1G COY, Butler HC)

That's a bit of a misleading title for the thread, but a great article to bring to everyone's attention, JO! Sounds like a kid with the right values and like he could be a real leader in the future!

Word out of Ohio State’s closed practices since they began in October has been that Lewis, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound Brookhaven graduate, often is the best guard in the gym. He is said to be aggressive and tenacious on offense and defense, qualities the Buckeyes have not had enough of the last two seasons.
I am very anxious to see Lewis play in the Big Ten. I believe he will bring alot of toughness to the team next year and he gets to the foul line often, which is a weak point of this current team. I am excited about him.

Bowling Green is winning without him this season, and coach Dan Dakich and some players have made veiled references to better chemistry being the reason.QUOTE]

That's a little misleading...

wadc...I have noticed that whenever Lewis is mentioned to Bowling Green players or staff, they do not have alot of positive things to say about him. I think they have issues with his transfer, maybe thats understandable, but it seems a little to negative in some of the articles I have read.

Just my take....:wink2:

more of a tease, thought maybe it would draw some traffic.

i am not really sure what the deal was up there, i have heard many rumors...nothing i truely want to state, but it appears as if both sides may have been in the wrong as i true often times with competitve people.

bn44820-your doing great work here.

that's what I mean...that could just be hard feelings or maybe Ron's competitive attitude and desire to win did not gel with the rest of the team. Either way, every time he is mentioned in regards to OSU practices, I have heard nothing but positives...I can't wait to see him on the floor next year with Dials, Sullinger, Butler, Foster, Harris, Mayes, Terwilliger, etc.

I post this with some hesitation, but -

I remember when the best player in practice was Tony Stockman the year he was ineligible to play.

I also remember TS coming from Clemson with some baggage (shot too much and took plays off on D) that OSU fans sneered at.

Lewis is not Stockman and deserves a fair chance, but the rumblings out of BG do concern me.

Just as I was getting excited, ya had to piss in my cornflakes. :bonk:

Seriously, you're right about the comparison of the comments during their transfer year. Hopefully, Lewis will prove to be a little less selfish than TS.

Funny Matta Quote about Illini

Front page of BSB.

by Jeff Rapp
It's an old joke, but was appropriate just the same. When Ohio State men's basketball coach Thad Matta was asked Friday if he had watched his next opponent, Illinois, annihilate Purdue Thursday night, he said, "I watched it and slept like a baby -- I woke up every two hours and started crying."
