Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

Arguing about whether going for field goals or trying to convert 4th downs was the right thing to do.
I'm glad things turned out the way they did, so I won't argue one side or the other. But I found this post funny:
It's situational. You're in a low-scoring slugfest with a great team on their field in front of 100K+ drunk rednecks. Take the fucking points.
100K drunk rednecks? Isn't that some dude who lives in a glass house and throwing rocks and shit?

You know how Penn State fans have that weird idea they are some sort of costal elite/sophisticates?

So do people from Austin.

Only it's worse.

I did see some serious rednecks this weekend, but it wasn't in Columbus. It was in Athens on Sunday.

Known my fair share of Bulldogs. They are at least honest about the fact they have redneck tendencies.

Austinites on the other hand,.....well, it takes a special kind of asshole to be wearing cowboy boots and a cowboy hat and play the "you are a redneck" card to others. Give me flawed but honest people everyday of the week.

...and you can keep those silly Penn State bastards as well. Fucking degenerates.

Back in the 70s, I took a job in Houston, moving from Columbus. I took constant crap from the Texas faithful about Darryl Royall vs Woody Hayes. Royal had a better winning percentage at Texas but worse across his career and Texas was in the SWC (and we know what happened there). Anyway, after a couple of hours of nonstop crap one day from boss and colleagues, my boss said, "That's the problem with you people from up there. You don't ever seem to leave the place." I said, "That is our strength. When you have nothing to hide on and off the field, it's easy to stay." They were speechless. I quit a few days later, went across the street and gave their business a proper arse-kicking before heading back north.
