Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

Bevo TV will actually be the Longhorn Network, or LHN.

CBS

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas unveiled the name of its new television network Sunday, keeping it simple by calling the channel the Longhorn Network, or LHN.

Texas struck a 20-year, $300 million deal with ESPN to create the network, which is scheduled to launch in August. It had been nicknamed the "Longhorn Network" when first announced and officials agreed the name best captured the brand of the university.

Texas and ESPN have yet to sign a deal with cable or satellite distributors. Sunday's announcement was supposed to include a short promotional video for reporters, but it didn't work.

Re: They also gave me the total amount each Big Ten school received from the Big Ten Network during the reporting period I have covered, which was $14,911,477.

That really isn't that much ($15M per year average) that Texas is getting over the next 20 years especially with inflation. Aren't the Big 10 schools each getting more than that now from the conference?

Don't worry I'm still the coach in waiting. After Mack gets fired I'll be the first coach to coach two teams at once. When I go to practice with Texas I'm leaving Tub Ass in charge of the Gators.

Mack ain't leavin. He's gonna be like Walt Disney and have his head frozen to be put on a robot body.

Is Texas Next? Colt McCoy?s Wife Talks Longhorn Athlete Perks On ESPN Radio

June 7th. 2011, 5:15pm

Colt McCoy?s wife, Rachel was on The Colin Cowherd show today. She may have launched the next big college football scandal! Over the 6-minute clip McCoy?s wife ? who randomly called into the show ? talked about players at Texas regularly getting free meals from boosters, getting approached by agents and teammates who got cars. Here?s a partial transcription:
Regularly it?s just dinner. People in Texas are just being friendly, they don?t mean anything by it at all. They don?t realize realize most of the time it?s a violation. At Texas you?re taught to take absolutely nothing, I don?t care if it?s a hot dog or soda.
But you?ve got guys, grown adult men with law degrees ? educated men ? what are they going to gain out of this? It?s to say, ?Hey, I bought so and so dinner, hey I took so and so to do this? ? It?s grown men and their pride.
You cannot expect 19-20 year old kids to say no to free stuff when they?re in college ? It?s hard, I think, for a lot of these guys to even know to say, ?I can take this, I can?t take this, nobody?s going to know, will someone find out??Things that could be handed to you that seem so minor ? a dinner, a hunt, a fishing trip ? most kids don?t even realize are illegal.
I know Colt was approached quite a bit [by agents] but I saw so many of his teammates who didn?t have some of that self control to say no to somebody ? it?s hard, because you have adults who you respect and who you think will know what?s right and wrong ? when you have adults promising things and offering things ?

local sports talk is gonna be fun down here for a while if they pay any attention

You mean the program ESPN just helped set up their own network? Why would they pay attention to the wife of a longhorn who called into one of their programs when there are former friends of Buckeyes to listen to?

Not Bevo TV... more the radio guys, Aggies, and OU fans will run with this to no end. Should be fun. They've even come around to the idea that Sergio Kindle, before his senior year, "might have been" drunk when he ran his car into a BUILDING, then pushed it into the street, then left the scene to be picked up later, not given a breathalyzer, and was quoted as saying "I was texting when it happened" ...
