Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

Salt's is excellent, but for me. it's the Tex-Mex joints in Austin. Gimme some cold Shiner-Bock, spicy black beans, rice, and salsa and I can flame throw methane like Jimmy Hairball.

Quiet as kept, the best BBQ is actually on the outskirts of Austin. I waited once and only once for Franklin BBQ(2hrs, never again), but would rather drive to Lockhart or Taylor anytime

The Salt Lick has gone down hill quite a bit IMHO… and yes between the little towns outside of Austin and the food trucks that serve better than just about any place i’ve tasted… Brisket their are many options.

Yeah. Hard pass. That vinegar based stuff is terrible!
Give me some of that mesquite or hickory smoke from TX anyday of the week

I think the best BBQ in Austin is towards the airport. Head there, go inside and buy a ticket to North Carolina.

This is the way.

You two are 100% correct. Carolina BBQ is legit. I'd also add Memphis style BBQ as another top BBQ option. Either way, both better than Texas style BBQ.
