Game Thread Texas at tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, TBA

What I don’t get is you have a market setting game in OSU Texas so why not throw it at 730? This way they can do 3 games that day on Fox and really drive ratings all day. I forget who plays that day but I know 1 other big ten team has a decent game that day too.
Hey, I’m in full agreement with you. Putting your biggest game of the day on your network is just plain dumb. Not to mention you’re screwing up some major recruiting opportunities for the home school. But the B1G(mainly Kevin Warren aided by all the B1G ADs) signed the biggest media deal in college history, and teams are making $80-100/yr! And a main sticking point for Warren and the ADs was they would have a dedicated time slot EVERY Saturday for their marque teams game. It just so happens that OSU is the biggest draw in the conference and it’s not even close. And FOX and the B1G agreed that they would take noon, and CBS would have 3:30, and ESPN/ABC get the night game. I agree that it screws OSU, but the best OSU can do next year is a night Ped St game.

I guess I was wrong about the Ped St game. I guess the best possible night game is UCLA…

I know nothing about negotiating tv contracts but here goes my guess as to why this is:

Fox has the noon slot for their biggest games. Disney has the prime time slot for theirs.

Both get to sell their ratings in each slot to advertisers in the unadulterated form. If they compete for eyeballs in the same slots for their big games, it's less money they can make off ad space.

Just a guess but it makes sense to me.

If you're trying to play make believe and convince people the Big Noon game is a big deal, you don't then throw your best game on at night. You defeat the whole purpose of what you're trying to do.
I agree with you but no two ways around most people knowing an elite night game beats an elite noon game every time.

Oh well, we all knew they’d do this. Just sucks that Ohio State has to carry the big tens water for 12pm the majority of the year. We would draw eyes at 2am on a Tuesday so no kidding 12pm on a Saturday ratings look great.

Yeah I don't like it at all. This one should be in prime time under the lights. Plus it'll be hotter than a bullfrogs ass at that time (about guaranteed 95+ and humid), playing into Texas' hand. Maybe the crowd will be a little less rowdy at noon is the only positive, but I sort of doubt that, especially after our last victory. And advantages/disadvantages aside, this is just one that should be under the lights after our last matchup.

But hey, lets look on the bright side. We play much better on the road against good teams on day games (for whatever reason). Plus it gives us the rest of the day to watch all the other games that day Mostly I am bummed it isn't a night game because I wanted to go to Austin to hang with some family down there and go to the game, but I suppose I still could if I got there early.

Dare I say, one of the reasons the Big Ten and TV want a successful Michigan program?

You know it’s C-Bus this year and Austin in 2026, right?

I've got that covered. We go out for warmups without shirts on.

Shirtless in the heat? That would imply that it's too hot for them. Instead, all of OSU players should go out in full-length fur jackets to show that they aren't scared of the heat. Can you imagine how intimidating it would be to see them all walk out looking like this?

Update: This article previously stated that Ohio State vs. Texas was confirmed to be a noon game after an article posted by FOX Sports announced that the game would be a Big Noon game. That line has since been deleted from FOX’s article, and FOX has not confirmed elsewhere that the game will air at noon.

TV networks and kickoff times for the rest of Ohio State’s 2025 games outside of the Texas and Michigan games have not yet been announced.
