Question:
So what happens with their NIL if they hit the portal?
I assume the players keep whatever they got up front to entice them to sign.
That’s the million dollar question. Because they got the money through 3rd party collectives/boosters. And I doubt any of them actually try and these kids for the money they provided, that would destroy any future recruiting for them.
I think they eat the losses, and knowing their program, they keep spending in hopes that it’ll get them competitive.
When you’re used to being bad for your entire existence, have a little brother complex and have alum dumb enough to think they belong with the elite and will spend to feel like it.That's absolutely what's going to happen. They'll just keep flinging money around until they eventually maybe get a good team out of it. Aggy isn't smart enough to figure out that this method probably isn't going to work more often than not.

They reportedly spent $30mil for the best class in recruiting history, and could lose a good number of the class before their Sophomores. If this isn’t a clear example of it not being a smart strategy to buy recruits before they’ve earned it, then IDK what is
The comical unearned media love they've gotten since joining the SEC definitely has not helped, that's really pushed their narrative that they "belong"
And the 2 years of Johnny Football success really fed their egos!
FAX AND EVIDENTSThe great myth of their grand success under Manziel sure is a good one.
The year they beat Bama with Manziel, 2012, they still finished 3rd in the SEC West
They followed that up in 2013 with a 4 loss season. Finishing 4th in the SEC west.
I guess that is pretty successful by A&M historical standards though.

Half will probably be at Bama as another project for Saban. And then others will go to lesser schools so they can be the big fish in a small pondI want none of their cast-offs.
I wholeheartedly trust our staff and evaluation at the current point in time so go after the one's you really want but don't offer NIL money up front. Coach em up and continue to build the chemistry and the brotherhood. Players like the A&M crew can only divide a house like they are doing in College Station
aTm boosters are dealing with oil money, so when they're up, they have money to burn. And in their minds, why not burn it on getting players for the team. This all reminds me of the article on the bagman, written years ago. Except with NIL, we're dealing with even bigger sums of money, and no longer do they have to go behind the local Dollar General or HEBI mean they don’t have anything to lose. They are not a great program. And the SEC is only going to get tougher. So I think their idea is guaranteed mediocrity for another decade or a potshot at a great season before Texas and OU come to town and get established.
I also bet for their boosters, access to the program was contingent on big NIL money. And we all know wanting program access is as much an ego thing as it is a rational thing if not more.
I want none of their cast-offs.
