Texas A&M Aggies, aTm (official thread of jizz jars)

I am recoiling as I look.

Aggy got themselves a new cannon. Apparently, it is an actual working piece and in their very aggy like rush to create a new tradition have it mounted on a glorified two story bookcase. I guess you can give them a pass because why on earth would aggy have any concept of what can happen when you have a bunch of dumbass students attempting some tricky engineering with no professional supervision. Oh wait.

How much does the cannon weigh?

What's the over/under on how many times it is fired before that rickety scaffolding collapses, and people die?

Create the equation where aggy stupidity and tradition collide divided by the coefficient of their repressed homosexuality and solve the outcome as a derivative of aggy deaths, and there's a Field Medal in it for you.

The picture is pretty fuzzy, but it looks to me like a 75MM Pack Howitzer, a piece often used for ceremonial purposes.

Here's the skinny on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M116_howitzer

I know that when firing a salute round most of the energy goes straight out the muzzle and it isn't going to rock back and kick like it would in a live fire situation, but a 75 has a bit of a kick. I'm also wondering how they intend to secure the trail arms on what looks to be 1 inch ply.

Here's a film of some National Guardsmen firing ceremonial rounds, Looks like it could be a fun night in College Station:
