If it was Northwestern and Vandy it might make more sense.
Then again, I'm not sure how much those schools stick to their standards when recruiting athletes. To a certain extent, I think it has to be taken as a given that athletes are often going to be below the "General Admission" standards. On the other hand, if they're practically illiterate... that's way below the standard.
